“Great Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2013

First of all i would like to thank everybody in the hotel :
1- Reception Team.
2- Cleaner Team.
3- Restaurant Team.
and all the managers there. the room was very comfortable with a small garden to sit outside with pyramids view. The food and service were good. i will upload the pictures.

I have two comments on the hotel:
1- Laundry section too slow and not committed to deadlines.
2- Security guards are not good, one of them asked me if I was carrying a weapon or not through pranks. it was not good for me.

i will visit Cairo Inshallah next time and will stay in the hotel. thanks

This was given 5 star status but more like 3 star. It is tired and in need of refurbishment. The staff were surly and not interested. The food left a lot to be desired. Definitely not what expected for 5 star. Moved onto Alexandria and that was what 5 star was meant to be. Very disappointing.

Cairo
We flew to Cairo (for 3 nights) from Luxor staying at the lovely Mercure Cairo Le Sphinx with a view of the pyramids from our room. There was a choice of restaurants. The food and service were good. Our room was very comfortable with a small garden to sit outside in. While we were there the pool was out of use and being cleaned. We had a fascinating day visiting the pyramids and another visiting the Museum where our very knowledgeable guide chose the most interesting exhibits to visit . We also really enjoyed visiting the Citadel and Mosque.

Room Tip: There was noise from morning traffic where we were but if did not bother us. Ask for a room with a...

We would like to thank you for your recent visit to Mercure Cairo Le Sphinx. It was truly a pleasure to serve you.

I am delighted to read that the accommodations and service were up to your expectations, as complete satisfaction is our goal, hence our non-stop attempts to develop and improve the quality of service remains our main objective to deliver the best service our guests deserve.

We deeply regret the pool incidence, it was a force majeure that needed a quick response from the hotel and the matter has been resolved.

Together with my team, we would much appreciate to welcoming you as a regular guest and we are looking forward for your next visit.

We wish you all the best in your businesss and personal endeavours.

Sincerely yours

good location and nice friendly staff and reasonable price, excellent for visiting Giza, Memphis etc as dont have to traverse Cairo during the rush hour. a la carte restaurant very reasonably priced. Traffic noise can be bad, but then they live on their horns in Egypt

My fiancé and I stayed here four nights while we explored Cairo, we really enjoyed it and would highly recommend it.
The rooms are great, good size, very clean and really comfy bed. Our room faced a road but we had no problems with noise.
The staff were incredibly polite and helpful, especially good at helping us to figure out what to do/where to go each day. There taxi company based on site were fantastic. Given the protests and unrest we were nervous about accidentally wandering into the wrong part of town but the drivers were very trust worthy and took us all over the city, waiting outside the various sites we visited. They also gave great advise about restaurants and avoiding hawkers etc. It was fantastic to be driven about and treated like royalty by the drivers!
There are hardly any tourists in Cairo at the moment, which meant we practically had the pyramids all to ourselves, was brilliant!!

Room was actually great for the price. More like a suite.
Electric tea kettle with coffee.
Refrigerator. Nice size sitting area. Large patio.
Good size bed (although pretty firm)
I took other reviewer's advice and got the "Garden View" - nice and quiet.
I can't imagine staying on the pyramid side. The road(s) in front of the hotel are crowded. Lots of car horns, pollution and people yelling.
Wifi is not in the rooms. You have to go down to the lobby in the 'loungey' area. Kind of inconvenient but not the worse thing in the world if you're on vacation.
Staff spoke pretty good English. Some better than others. Adequately helpful but sometime you have to ask twice for things.
Breakfast is less than to be desired but abundant. I recommend the omelette.
Security is adequate enough here. There is a metal detector and X-ray. Usually at least two security guards 24/7. (One or more at the entrance- one or more outside). Might even be a large truck full out by the street.
Cleanliness needs to be improved. Our thermost control in our room looked like it had never been cleaned (visibly dirty). Lobby couches could use a vaccuming. Just seemed like a lot of the cracks and crevices were missed by the cleaning staff. Although, it's definitely the cleanest place I've seen in Egypt.
Do not venture out of the hotel if you go. You will be hustled or at least approached my three or more people who want something. This is no reflection on the hotel. This is Cairo.
When in Cairo, you see the sites, then return to the safety of your hotel.
This place definitely does the trick. Very very good value for the price.

This hotel offers great location and a view (if you get the pyramid view rooms) for an extremely reasonable price. Stayed here during the anniversary of the revolution and couldn't be more happier with the service of the staff and the facilities.
My only negative comment would be that I am not sure the air conditioning was working in our room, however I am a bit of a numpty when it comes to these thermostat type things and may have gotten it all wrong... Rooms were as quiet as you are going to be able to get in Cairo, its a noisy little town by nature..
Buffet breakfast was beautiful.
Would definately recommend this place to other travellers if you are looking for something slightly outside of Cairo.

Room Tip: Definitely get the Pyramid View Room, no. 2116 I think.
