“Good room with a view of pyramid.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2011

We were only in Cairo for 3 nights, and were very satisfied with the Mercure. Check in was a breeze, very helpful and welcoming staff. We had reserved a pyramid view room and were not disappointed.

It was very nice having the balcony to sit out on in the evening and enjoy the view! Only downside to this is the busy road with all the honking cars going by endlessly. Luckily you don't hear the cars in the room with the door closed! Room itself was nice, clean, functional and comfortable. Bathroom was great, although the door didn't close too easily.

Breakfast was included and it was great. Excellent selection of items, fresh and hot, and even a cook to order omlette guy. We also spent one night at dinner overlooking the pyramids from the rooftop restaurant. Quite affordable and great atmosphere.

Free internet in the lobby was available and much appreciated. The pool was nice, lots of lounge chairs and always fresh towels available. The surrounding garden and grounds were well kept and tidy.

All in all, we had a lovely stay and will go back.

We stayed here for 3 days in mid June, the hotel is located on a main road about 1km from the pyriamids so there is a bit of traffic noise when you are in the garden and pool area, however the room we stayed which looked into the gardens was quiet. The room was a good size and was very clean. We ate at the hotel and the food was good, as was the bar area. Due to its location you are well placed to visit the pyriamids and the sphinx which is about 5/10 mins away by road. however to visit central Cairo takes about 45 mins depending on how bad the traffic is. Overall it is a good hotel and staff were freindly and helpful.

We (Couple + 7 year-old child) stayed in for 10 days and had a great time. Away from busy and dirty Cairo (reachable within 20mn / 1 hour distance, depending on the traffic), we had a lovely experience.
This hotel is now under a new management, and is being completely renovated. The room we had was very nice (2008), very clean & beds extra comfortables! The terasse had a view on the pyramids, but away from the busy avenue. Although a bit dusty (but hey, Cairo / Ghiza is in the middle of the desert, so what should you expect?!), it was really nice to have some relaxing time, viewing the gardens that are really lovely and extremely well maintained.
There's a children playground, a ping-pong table, and the pool is very child-friendly.
Staff was very accomodating, food very nice (we had breakfast & dinner at the hotel every day), although it could have been a bit more local in my taste... Pool & poolside very clean, very well staffed. I'm sure that due to the diligence of the new hotel manager, this place will soon be a 5° again !
The only downturn is that we organised a pickup from the airport through the concierge, and both concierge & taxidriver scared us to death about using local taxis... which, although w/o Airco, are fine and 5 times less expensive !
I would recommend this plae for travelling with kids, and for half leasure / half visiting trips to Cairo.

I loved this hotel! The beds were super comfortable. I loved having a balcony to view the pyramids. The bathroom was clean and had a lovely standing shower. Room service was prompt and reasonably priced. My room came with a free buffet breakfast and it had a nice selection of pastries, juice, eggs, bacon and a lot of other things. This was just a wonderful place to stay and I would highly recommend it!

beautiful hotel full of artifacts. the food is lovely and the staff are very helpful . the down side is its very close to the road . i was only there for 3 days and after a while i blocked out the noise. the double glazing is very good and so blocks it out at night . the room i was in was a fair walk away from the reception area , but there is a lift . if you are bad at walking ...like myself....then be prepared to have to walk across to the other side of the hotel for your room . the pool is small but you can swim in it . its ok if you just need somewhere to stay for a couple of nights but would not recommend it for a week . you are not allowed to take food into your rooms from the outside and your bags are searched on your way in .

Room Tip: ask for the balcony room overlooking the pyramids

The hotel is well located with views over the Pyramids. The pool was beautiful, with plenty of space around for just relaxing. The restaurants offered a variety of food that was reasonably priced. The room was a Privilege room with additional space for a pare bed, two televisions and adequate bathroom. TV choice was a little limited however you are not there for the TV. Watch the Taxi service as it tends to be a rip off, with prices that change after doing. But that said overall the trip was good.
