This French-style cafe, located close to the Caroline Crillon hotel, is an undiscovered gem. Serving a full range of cafe staples (teas, coffees, ice cream, cakes), it also rounds out its menu with substantial meals (pizza, salads, wraps, and other Western curios). We had Mexican-style fajitas for lunch the first time we dined, followed by a humongous serving of chocolate creeps the next morning. Delicious on both counts, and cheap! Dining is in classic cafe style, and its modern French influence and design comes off as quite chic (by Egyptian standards!). Spotless and well presented, Bert's is classy, tasty, and friendly - the perfect antidote to hectic Cairo sightseeing!
