On the approach to the Pyramids, it was a bit like seeing the Manhattan skyline for the first time for me- really, really surreal. As you actually stand there facing them, its a real pinch me moment.
Yes there are annoying touters, locals trying to rip you off and selling you overpriced toot but we just ignored them and we were fine. Do not let that spoil the amazing sight that is the Pyramids, it truly is something you should do once in your lifetime. It is overwhelming to look at them and think of how old they actually are...truly amazing. The Sphinx also something to behold.
You can pay an extra 100 LED to go inside the Great Pyramid...it's not a big deal, cramped and nothing to see except an empty tomb once you reach the middle-but we found it worth doing just to say we had done it..after all we had come that far.
go there, ignore the nonsense and take it for what it is- a truly amazing sight to behold, a real wonder of the world
