“Who would have thought that there was world class mountain biking in the desert?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

Wadi Degla is on the outskirts of Cairo, and is a world away from the hustle and bussle of everyday life. The Wadi (valley) is a popular area for hikers, trail runners and mountain bikers. All of whom share common trails and tracks. Some of the more technical runs and rides offer heart stopping ascents and descents. The views from the upper rims are absolutely fantastic. Who would have thought that a desert could be so beautiful? In summer the heat stops most folks from venturing too far, but in the fall and Spring...WOW, the trails are endless. So if you are looking for a close easy escape take a trip to the Wadi...you will enjoy.

“Fantastic for Mountain Biking and Hiking!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2012

Beautiful terrain and lots of MTB trails that stretch for miles in all directions. Easy routes in the bottom or more difficult routes up top.

“Wadi Degla”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2012

We often walk there with a group of fellow Hash House Harriers. It is very rocky, barren and there are really few marked trails. It cost 5le for a car and 5le per person in the car. There are no restroom facilities and it is very hot in the summer.

“Nice but”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2012

The Wadi Digla is or could be a very nice place. There are some disadvantages: First I do not understand why this protectorat can be visited by car. On weekends there are too many cars in the wadi. The wadi is littered with plasticbags, plastic and glasbottles, broken bottles and other garbage. Any car, passing the gate should pay additional LE 25.- and should get a garbagebag. When the visitors with the car leave the wadi they should return the carbage in the bag and would get LE 15.- back. This is just an idea but something should be done to avoid more and more garbage in the wadi
