Another beautiful thing to see in Egypt - you won't be sorry! History is so fascinating - and to see and experience these buildings - an unforgettable memory!

“This pyramid complex is #3 on list of all Cairo Area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2012

There is so much to see here. The complex is still being excavated and the pyramid restoration is in progress, but just being in this ancient place gives you the sense of life 5500 years ago. There is a prexy glass cover over some writing on a short hallway that is obviously written by an ancient Roman stating that this was the temple of Djoser. Great photo op. No shade anywhere, wear a hat and take water.

“Close to Memphis”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2012

It's very different then the Pyramids in Giza well worth the trip. Google image the Step Pyramid for a picture of it. Not as big as Giza but so different you shouldn't miss it.

“More interesting than Giza”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2012

Although they are working on the pyramid, I think this one is a more interesting site than Giza for a couple of reasons. There are many tombs to visit with beautiful fresco's on the wall depicting Egyptian life in faraonic days. There are plenty of guides around who speak good English and will give you a tour. Agree on the price before you start, 20 US is usually a good price. The little men in dishdashas who guard the tombs will expect an LE coin or two for their "services" as well. The museum at the bottom of the hill is also excellent, entrance is free and they have a real mummy. Very informative, some interesting artifacts. Bring water & snacks, there was nothing available when we were there.
