“Reasonable For The Price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2012

Stayed here as part of a tour and then for a night alone. Was about £25 for one night. Rooms clean and functional. Free wifi in lobby and staff happy for people to sit around. Great rooftop bar with fantastic views on Cairo- can even see the outline of the Pyramids. Supermarket and ATM round the corner. 2 minutes walk to a busy main street offering cheap falafel and schwarma. As the hotel is off the main street it is very quiet for Cairo so offers a potential good night's sleep.

We stayed at King Hotel for couple of nights. It is very nice Hotel category 3* (based on our previous experience in Cairo), may be not luxury, but gave us a perfect chance to relax and enjoy our vacation without paying extra money. And you have free Wi-Fi in open areas.

Rooms have all necessary equipment, may be furnishing and decoration need to be updated, but just a little bit. Rooms are very clean. Breakfast surprised us with good variety of food.

We basked with quietness during the night, because Hotel is located in very secure (nearby embassies) and calm area, what is really very rear in Cairo. But in the same time location of the Hotel allowed us to reach all historical places, what we had planned to visit during this time.

Around the Hotel you can find a lot of shops and subway is also just within walking distance.

The most amazing experience we had in the roof-top bar. The view is great! You can really sense the atmosphere of the megacity, but in the same time you will feel glamorous oriental charm. In clear days you can see Pyramids from the roof!

Staff is very friendly and nonintrusive, but very helpful.

So, we are very satisfied with our vacation and would recommend to stay at King Hotel if you care about comfort with good value of money.

This was the starting hotel for our Gecko's tour and we stayed for three nights before the tour. We couldn't fault the staff. They were friendly and helpful especially Sam in the lobby cafe.

The rooftop bar was a highlight, great place to gather in the evening and grab some snacks, drinks and try some flavoured Shisha at pretty reasonable prices. good view across the top of Cairo. Wrestling seems to be the flavour for the big tv screens around the bar though.

Breakfasts consisted of meats, cheese, bread, eggs and local egyptian choices such as foul (pronounced fool).

We stayed twice during the course of the tour so got to see two types of rooms. the first was in great need of maintenance, with running toilet (we had to turn the cistern off each night and remember to turn it back on to use it). The air conditioner made so much noise it was not usable. The fittings in the shower actually fell off and smashed and the tap was stuck on by what looked like chewing gum. The second room on the 8th floor was much better. It looks like they are slowly starting to renovate the hotel from the top down. unfortunately we were four nights in the first room and one in the second.

if all rooms were like the second, this would definately have been worth a rating of four. if staying extra nights on a tour ask for a renovated room or consider other options. Its a shame as the staff are wonderful.

If our first room had been

Room Tip: Ask for a renovated room on the 8th floor

I've stayed here a number over times over the past two years and each time I've found it to be great. The rooms are clean and the staff are friendly. The breakfast in the morning is good, too - nothing too fancy, but a good variety and great taste. (I think I'm addicted to their falafels!) The hotel is located in a cosy little neighbourhood not far from the Nile. It's cheap and easy to get around Cairo, but it's also out of the main 24-hour constant busy-ness of downtown. It's in a neighbourhood with a few embassies and consulates, so it is secure and the streets are safe. There is also a little bar/restaurant on the roof that has amazing views out over the Nile and a great atmosphere that really lets you feel like you are in a different world. A great little place!

Room Tip: The rooms are in the process of being refurbished (as at Jan 2012), so just ask for one of these roo...

Stayed here for 2 nights as part of a tour. The staff was very accommodating to all of my needs and the beds were decent as were the showers. The roof top bar was nice and had a good atmosphere. There was also a small fridge. Pretty quiet compared to the noise that comes with Cairo. Supermarket around the corner is decent and a good place to stock up on snacks instead of paying the overpriced fare you get around most touristic spots in the city. However, make sure you haggle all prices before getting in any cab the front desk may arrange for you no matter how 'cheap' they say it may be. Someone tried to charge me 30 EGP for a literal 5 minute ride.

We stayed at King Hotel for three nights as part of our Intrepid adventure tour of Egypt. The hotel is located on the other side of river Nile and which is not far from the Cairo centre. The cab from the airport takes about 1hr 15 mins due to traffic. The hotel has a rooftop bar which is a great place to hangout but the rooms are in very poor state: wallpaper and floorpaper missing in few places. The bathrooms were clean but everything is very worn out. The quality of sleep was not too bad as the main road is 5 mins walk. The staff were friendly but they were pretty bad in booking our taxi back to the airport. Although we asked the reception to book a taxi a day in advance, the staff did not book a taxi and later we found out that it is the porter who runs to the main street and gets a taxi for the customer. We were not very impressed with this as we barely made it on time for our flights. In summary, budget hotel (don't get flattered by 3* rating), shabby rooms but reasonably clean rooms. We quite enjoyed the buffet breakfast at the hotel.
