“Authentic, fun and simply lovely”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2012

This is a place i really loved, here you can see the simpler part of cairo away from the luxury shopping malls etc.. if you are interested in experiencing a day as a local go here! walk around vendors may get a bit pushy trying to sell you items however they are nice and prices are very much affordable you may get all the souvenirs you want for great prices, they also sell spices, shishas etc, fake handbags (not bad at all). once you get to Khan el khalili you willl have to pass by the famous El Fishawy coffee shop its nothing like you would imagine but u certainly should drop by for a shisha and tea& mint, don't forget to try the egypian feteer (pancakes) try both the salty one and the sweet theyre amazingly delicious you may get those at a rest called Gad this area is not the cleanest but it is a unique experience don't pay attention to details and you will love it, keep your hand gel ready and you will be just fine :):)

“Numerous stands abundant merchandise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2012

Liked the sage tea that the merchants share with you as they discuss why you should buy their wares. Loved the sights, sounds, smells of the market place.
Did not enjoy the barter system that is part of the culture. It is the way they do business then this part of the world. As long as you know about it before going to the market. Enjoy the process and make sure you buy something locally made. They have awesome silk and hand embroidered items.

“The market!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

What a place! Easy to get lost in the rabbit warren of tiny streets, but not to worry, someone will help you find your way back. I've been here many times and never tire of looking at the archways and doorways and tiles and carvings......oh, and the shops too.

“Funny experience!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2012

We visited this bazar at the end of our quick trip to Cairo. It is rather funny, with people trying to sell everything at any price. If you want to buy souvenirs of high quality, this is not the right place: imitations are uncountable. But if you want to buy cheap gifts with no regards for top quality, here you can find something interesting. Remember to bargain for everything: egyptians always ask for a price which is 1-2 times higher than the real value. Anyway, bargaining with such friendly people is really funny and it is a good experience.

“Pushy, Grabby, Junk”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2012

Here you will find everything you have seen on the streets, in the airport, in your hotel, and every gift shop you have come across in Egypt. These prices may be even more expensive since the vendors must pay for the price of prime real estate in tourist land.

There are no local people here buying any of the inflated priced souvenirs. The market is a nice stop if you would like to take some photos but really there is nothing more to see after you have seen five of the shops.

There is a coffee shop in the center of the market that is good to cool down and relax from all the very aggressive salesmen.

Females this will be an exhausting place to be if you are solo. You will be endlessly harassed.
