I can't say enough about the stellar service we received at the Conrad Cairo! We are Hilton Diamond - I called the US Hilton Honors prior to our arrival and asked about upgrade chances and was basically told "no way" as we did not book the Conrad ourselves but were part of a group. I went to the front desk on arrival (after receiving our pre-assigned room key from our tour guide) - Mohammed at the HHonors desk said "absolutely" we could be upgraded - put us on the executive level and he even came out from behind the desk and personally escorted us and our bags to the room as there was a slight hold up with the bell staff due to our group. Room on executive floors have the same footprint as lower levels (we saw both). We had access to the lounge with very nice snacks/appetizers, extended hours, extremely helpful concierges and a great cocktail hour. Room bedding was superb, bath was spotless (housekeepers Goama and Muhamed (?sp?) took care of us - towel creatures and rose petals on the bed!). Our group booking included the buffet - I don't tend to like buffets but this one was terrific - at breakfast a lady made homemade Egyptian flat bread in a wood oven, there was honey from a honey comb, lots of fruit (with fresh made juices right in front of you), a great sampling of Eqyptian foods with plenty of western selections (omelettes to order) if not feeling so adventurous. We swam at the pool (spotless), quiet, comfortable loungers with attentive pool staff. Location is decent - we were able to walk to the Egyptian Museum, Tahrir Square, to flea markets/malls. Felt extremely safe and the folks we passed on the streets were all helpful in pointing us in the right direction. As we were leaving, the housekeeping manager and restaurant manager both stopped us and asked how our stay was and was there any way they could improve services... I had nothing constructive to offer them as our stay was perfect! The Conrad even let us have a very late checkout without batting an eye. Our visit exceeded all expectations - I am looking forward to going back!
