“Very old "five" star hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

do not expect a REAL five star hotel and mind thinking, the building is old, furniture too, i had to ask for the maintenace, the staff are not very friendly and not even very professional, they even asked for a certificate to say that my wife IS MY WIFE, food is ok, but the hotel has a good location.

I stayed at this hotel a few days ago and I am sorry to say I was not treated well at all and was NOT HAPPY with my experience. Firstly I was put in a room that had a faulty bathroom door, it did not even close let alone lock. The bed linen was NOT clean, I saw hairs on the pillow. The room smelt and the carpet was not hoovered - it was dirty and sticky to walk on. The electricity failed in the middle of the night - unable to sleep due to the lack of air con, I decided to pack my things at 6am and go to the reception to request a room change. When I left the room I realised the room's front door was not locking properly - unbelievable.
I was utterly shocked when instead of complying with my request, the ASSISTANT MANAGER marched me back up to the room, visibly angry with my audacity at requesting a room change. He checked the bathroom door several times and then demanded to know why it was a problem if I was the only one in the room. He also had a go at me for putting the laundry request sign on the front of the door.I had to put my foot down for a room request.
I was told that internet at the cafe was free - so I went to use it and then told to LEAVE by the staff because I wasn't buying anything. Other guests were not told this and were allowed to use internet there without buying anything. Breakfast was good, but all the above was disgraceful treatment frankly - if you're brown-skinned, or don't fit their typical image of a western or gulf tourist, you'll be treated like rubbish.

I stayed for 2 weeks due to office assignment in Cairo. While stay there, I need to borrow water heater. Unfortunately, in such a 5 stars hotel (I don't know which part is categorized as 5 stars), there is no water heater. When I asked for iron and ironing board, the staff only said, that the hotel doesn't provided it. The food is not as varied as any other international hotel I've visited. During breakfast, while I was taking another dish, without asking, my untouched food being removed, and somebody has already sat in my seat. What a mess!! In short, it is not recommended at all!

Stayed for 2 nights as part of an extended tour. The room was clean and comfortable and what I would call a 'Business Hotel' rather than a 'Leisure Hotel'. Situated on a busy street but all the streets in Cairo are. There is a small pool enclosed by the four blocks of the hotel so not ideal for sunbathing or really relaxing, useful as a base for visiting the sights. It is in need of refurbishment but with the lack of tourists visiting Egypt I doubt that will happen in the near future. The food in the restaurant is good and the staff are very helpful. Very limited choice of Alcoholic drinks and very expensive, they do not sell any White spirits eg Vodka, Gin or so if this is your tipple take your own. Quick word of warning Cairo is very busy traffic wise so allow lots of time if you are going anywhere.

Stayed for three nights in May while visiting a customer in Giza.
Back in the 1980s this hotel was probably very nice, but that was probably the last time the rooms were updated..Beds rock hard andbathroom dated..
Clean enough and breakfast tasty,Piano Bar staff friendly, but no choice of beers,Luxor classic only.
No wifi in the rooms, but you can get connected in the lobby but only if you use the restaurant.

Room Tip: Stay at the Intercontinental Tahir Square

We booked 2 Suites, as it was a family trip. Both the Suites were very spacious and had a vintage look. They need to maintain it a little more though. Buffet Breakfast was awesome, their authentic food Foul (pronounced as fool) was fantastic, had it with fresh and nicely made Pitta breads. Overall it was a wonderful stay at this hotel.

Room Tip: While booking rooms/suites, please do mention to give well maintained room

My first time in Cairo. Not my choice of hotel, but can't blaim. The staff was very friendly and flexible. Spacious hotel with all services I could imagine, the only lack was no Wi-Fi in the rooms, only cable connection. Stayed in a suite, room cleaning was impeccable. Of course some rooms abit outdated. If one is not a heavy sleeper, the traffic and the calls for praying might disturb your sleeping. Food was ok. Very egyptian and fresh and sooo flexible!
