I checked into this hotel for 3 nights at the beginning of a 3 week vacation, and again at the end of the trip for 1 night prior to coming back home. I was so happy with our first stay, we decided to come back, however we had two completely different experiences. I was well aware considering my budget I would not be staying with all the comforts of a luxury hotel. Upon arrival of our first stay I was pleased that our room was very spacious and clean. The antique furnishings gave the hotel such charm, however the room has absolutely no sound proofing. None. Though out the night: horns honking..LOUD conversation & laughing from the coffeeshop below…and the call to prayer. We stayed on the 4th floor-I took a sleeping aid just to get past the noise. The staff was friendly enough, breakfast plain: some breads, coffee/tea, juice box, and a piece of fruit. Purchase items (omlettes) are also available. You can book tours though hotel and are very reasonably priced (our guide was excellent Mina). The second stay I was not pleased with. We made reservations prior to our departure of our first stay, upon arrival of our second stay we were told the rooms we reserved were not available and were given more expensive rooms –at the more expensive room rate. Whatever…tired, not being in an argumentative mood we accepted them…big mistake- the ceiling and walls were covered with water stains, the window in the bathroom had huge gaps I fell asleep dreaming that pests were crawling through. The room was like Hotel Hell in the movies. Eesh gives me the willies now thinking about it. We sucked it up and toughed it though as we were entirely too tired to find other accommodations.
Another thing that really annoyed me is that management did not mention they would be vanishing floors in the bar area and dining area during our first stay-I wish we had been told of that during check in as we would have made another hotel choice being that I am hyper sensitive to chemical smells.
I have this place 3 stars as we had an amazing time on our first stay, but if I had to rate this place solely on my second stay, I would rate it 1 star.
