“Nice hotel, not far from the airport”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2012

This large hotel with several restaurants, cafe, bar, pool, gift shops, massage is near the airport but not near Cairo's attractions. It calls itself a five star hotel and according to the number of service personnel and the hotel amenities this might be accurate, though the rooms themselves compare more with a four-star hotel in Europe or North America. Staff were clearly well-trained but there were some misunderstandings that could have been spared if their English skills had been better, especially at the front desk.

Beds are comfortable, room soundproofing is adequate, air conditioning worked well -- as is essential in summer! The laundry service was convenient.

The restaurants are fairly expensive, in keeping with the hotel. We had several meals there and enjoyed the buffet breakfasts, the Thai restaurant that has some of the best Thai food in the city (though more expensive than others), and found the meat dishes to be done very well. Because Ramadan started while we were there, it was helpful to know that one of the three restaurants would be open before iftar with a regular menu while another had a special iftar buffet.

The hotel is an isle of relief in the middle of Cairo city. The hotel is a little bit old also the room's furniture , but I must say clean for the Egyptian standard.
The personnel is kind and professional and well organized.
I stayed there one week and I had some health problem and the personnel took care of me.
I ate in the restaurant in the evening with a buffet menu you can have a regular choice of items.
Breakfast buffet is very good with a nice choice of fresh pastries.
In conclusion is a good and professional structure , maybe too much expensive ?

hotel is close to the airport.
rooms are big and comfortable
good hotel for to meet business and avoid the traffic of cario.

Not ideal for touristic pusposes.
Very good price for what you get. the breakfast is ok although the resturant area is pretty small.

there is a small gym too in the hotel.

We were booked as part of private tour Memphis Tours. The price was reasonable and the room was adequate for the 3 of us. However, the service in the restaurant was awful. You have to wait a long time, we almost choked before the drinks came and the price was so expensive. Our dinner cost was 35 euros each and it was not even comparable to a 3 star restaurant in the U.S., it was even a buffet. The hotel staff speaks english well but they were not helping at all with any information on things other than what is in their hotel.

Dear Mr Oscar J.
Thank you for taking the time to post a review of Le Méridien Heliopolis and for advising that you have appreciated your room while recently staying with us. We regret, to note, that your restaurant experience was not quite successful and kindly request you to accept our sincere apologies. However, we wish to bring to your attention that our dinner buffet cost per person is EURO 19.85 and not EURO 35.00 as mentioned. Should your time permit, you are most welcome to communicate any clarifications directly to my attention (e-mail: mamdouh.farag@lemeridien.com) and I will be too happy to investigate the issue. Looking forward to hearing from you. Kind regards. The Hotel Management

I have stayed at this hotel many times. If you have business in the area of Heliopolis it is a great hotel to stay at. The people are very friendly and the staff is really helpful. The breakfast selection is really good.
It is located on a really busy street and I would not recommend having a room overlooking the highway.
The rooms are a bit old looking but the internet is free.
Overall it is value for money as most hotels in Cairo overcharge.

Hasn't changed for years and still a decent place to stay. free internet access is unusual these days. Most of the staff have been there for years too, and they seem to be trying extra hard theses days - possibly because it is relatively quiet given current events in Egypt. Does need some refurbishment though - starting to look dated and tired. Furniture and decor hasn't changed for at least 7 years...

Saying that it is always a friendly place to stay, and will continue to be my hotel of choice when visiting on business.

The Hotel is rightly located in the heart of Cairo, well connected to all the important places to see around. Quite enjoyed the stay. The restaurants are cool and they have live performances which are typical Egyptian. Food is amazing, offers great choices.
