My wife and I stayed at the hotel for 2 nights in early August 2014. We arrived about 2:00 AM because of a late flight and bad Cairo traffic, even at this hour. there were only 2 reception agents despite a busy reception area and a a small line up at the counter. One thing to be crowded but the other is to offer unfriendly service and deal with staff who is not readily providing information. It is also the first time that a hotel takes the full credit card payment in advance in addition to asking for an additional deposit, despite having the credit card number, and insisting that is a world-wide requirement; and I stayed in numerous hotels world wide.
Getting past the front desk, the room size was OK but the furniture and decor were dated and average; there was no coffee machine in the room (in a 5 star hotel!); maintenance was lacking, for example no WiFi in the room despite the claim that they have it; the lever to switch from tap to shower was stuck and calling for service was in vein as no one was answering the phone call.
Some bright spots: the staff of the business center who promptly answered our call about the WiFi and were very apologetic that there is none in this room and offered a round about fix. Also some of the restaurant staff, despite being overwhelmed by the number of guests, still served us with a smile.
This was definitely my first and last stay at this hotel!
