We flew in from Birmingham and had a fantastic time in Cairo. This was a special weekend and we also booked an Insider Tour through the hotel - this was customised as we were just there for two nights and wanted experience as much as possible. The hotel staff were wonderful and made us feel very special - they even made the suggestion that we have a "dine around" in some of the hotel's restaurants and then even topped it off with a cruise on the Nile and a trip to Khan al Khalili for a spot of shopping. The rooms were brilliant and the view was spectacular. I would go there again.

If you're planning on going to this hotel with family - DON'T.
An aesthetically pleasing hotel witht its marble floor and glamourous decor, but the core basic services that you would expect from a 5 star hotel was unfortuntaley missing. Instead we were faced with rude and arrogant staff, who were unhelpful and impatient. Everybody elses' rooms seemed to get cleaned once a day but they did not clean our rooms until we asked them. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, was charged for. For example, I wanted to warm up my nephew's special food that we bought from London and they wanted to charge us £40 to room service for the use of 10 seconds of their microwave. They also managed to lose all 5 pieces of our luggage after we arrived. They were also unable to allocate our 2 rooms on the same floor even though we had booked this on the internet before flying. I will not be visiting this hotel ever again and we made our feelings known to their manager on departure. Not a family-friendly or generally friendly hotel at all.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights at the beginning of a tour/cruise. It is situated right on the Nile with wonderful views and within walking distance of the Egyptian Museum. Unfortunately, Cairo has terrible pollution--one day we left our balconey door open while out touring and when we came back, exhaust fumes had engulfed the room. The room (1112?) was clean and spacious. The bed delightfully comfortable. My only complaint was that the room was around the corner from the elevator and you could hear some of its noise (although I've been in worse rooms). The breakfast buffet was good as was the buffet dinner (they actually cooked fresh fish for you). I ate one lunch at the Lebanese restaurant. The lentil soup had no seasoning. I thought I ordered taboula--it was good but basically was a salad of parsley and tomatoes. Service was adequate.

Hotel is in centre of Cairo which is very busy. The hotel has a lot of business guests and for tourists it is an expensive hotel. However the hotel is a very deluxe with restaurants and large dining rooms. Four tourists the hotel can be recommended since it is in walking distance of the Egyptian Museum. Transfer to the Pyramids is about 30 minutes.

Hotel was expensive but had a number of good places to eat. The buffet breakfast
was wonderful and worth the price. The hotel is also within walking distance of the Museum. The staff was friendly and had a good command of the English language.

I would strongly encourage any traveler to avoid Standard Tours which has an office in the hotel. Hassan Askar the Operations Manager will take every dollar that you have and a pint of blood if you let him. The tours he offers do not always come with a guide who speaks English well enough to explain the various tourist attractions.

This is my second review on this hotel as the first one was erronousely posted to another branch. My memory is no longer as fresh as the day we returned from Egypt but the hotel was not a four star hotel in my opinion. The rooms were small and the shower/bathroom old. During our visit, the pool was closed for renovation. The WiFi did not work above their fourth floor or even in their lobby where it is free. You are charged for the use of WiFi and some ridiculous amount that I no longer remember. Do not count on being able to use the Inernet unless you pay for it in the business center. The breakfast was good, however, it was included in the room price only for two adults and you had to pay $45 (US dollars) for children and less for younger children. I do not recommend this hote..
