“Great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013 via mobile

We spend 3 nights at the hotel for quick visit to Cairo and it was amazing, above our expectation. The staff friendly and u have good restaurant, bar, casino and small shops. There business center is fabulous. My recommendation to have the Nile view.

We stayed in this hotel after our 4 night cruise on the Nile in March and chose it for it's location on the Nile and within walking distance to the Cairo Museum (so we didn't have to worry about haggling for a taxi!!)
As with everything in Cairo, there was security and sniffer dogs at the entrance but, they themselves, were welcoming and friendly. Unfortunately due to the recent riots there was some damage to the outside of the ground floor. Our tour guide from South Sinai Tours was very reassuring about the safety of the area and had updated us throughout our tour on whether we would need to relocate to another hotel if needed.
The main lobby was huge and very elegant with mezzanine floors with cafes, restaurants etc. The staff at check-in were welcoming and helpful and the concierge was great giving us advise on the local area, in regards to safety and sights to see and organising a car to take us back to the pyramids for a farewell look before we flew home.
Our room was beautiful overlooking the Nile with a very roomy balcony to take in the sights.
The bed was huge, and oh so comfy with stacks of pillows. The bathroom was a great size with a full size bath. Everything was in working order. I couldnt have asked for a better room.....well, I could but didnt feel the need.
We had breakfast each morning in the club lounge and the service and selection of food was very good. Everywhere we stayed in Egypt had someone cooking fresh omelettes or scrambled eggs according to your preference.
Our first night we ate at the Thai restaurant on the main mezzanine. The food was gorgeous and we were given a complimentary drink on arrival of some sort of local specialty, of which I cant remember the name, but it was delicious. I did get caught out when asked if I would like a drink. I asked for water (boring, I know) and expected a glass or small bottle but the waiter brought a 1 litre bottle which of course we had to pay for, but that was ok as you always need bottled water in Egypt.
We also tried room service on our second night and it arrived within 30 minutes hot and delicious.
The club lounge was elegant and we were give complimentary nibbles, as you seem to get at all hotel bars.
There was very little trouble with street noise, unless you leave the sliding doors open.
Due to the local issues the hotel seemed to have very few guests which is very sad for the local economy, but having said that we had absolutely no problems and felt very safe, even on our walk to the museum and along the riverfront...in daylight of course. It wasnt recommended to wander the streets at night, which was fine with me.

This hotel is on the Nile, a short walk from Tahrir Square and the Egyptian Museum in one direction and the American and British embassies in the other.and across the street from Shepheard's Hotel. There are excellent restaurants with reasonable prices in the area around
Tahrir Square.

I was there in December 2012. This hotel is situated about 200m from Tahrir Square. The management & staff of this hotel were amazing. They looked after us & provided us with excellent tourism ideas & a very friendly taxi driver. The restaurant in the foyer is delicious especially the Sushi Bar. The Mobaco Cotton Clothing shop is a delight. Not badly priced at all. We stayed in a family room, with our two kids, with a view of the beautiful Nile & the revolutionary Tahrir Square.

Have stayed a few times in IC Semiramis.
Service is excellent, everybody is willing to help and always smiles.
Location is really good with a nice view.
Many choices if you want to have something to eat, Will definitely recommend Pane Vino, great food, top service and nice environment.
If you have the chance to go to Cairo, you should go there.

I and my family have been guests at the Semiramis InterContinental Hotel,Cairo,Egypt many times. It has always been a most convenient and welcoming place to stay with great location in the center of Cairo;convenient to business & government offices, the National Museum,The Opera, several Embassies, and with easy access by auto/taxi to shopping. The hotel is on the Nile and the view, particularly at night, is spectacular. The Semiramis houses several excellent restaurants offering varied cuisine,a brand new 'state of the art' spacious, well equipped conference and business center and some shops. The health club facilities are reasonably equipped however, there is only one steam bath which must alternate hours by gender. The pool is good for cooling off but is not large enough for serious excercise swimming. The staff in all facilities are helpful and efficient. The hotel also has a great executive lounge most helpful and supportive to all priviliged to enter there in. I have always been exceedingly pleased with the service and responsive client support throughout the hotel. The Semiramis has suffered from the recent substantial loss of tourism clients in Cairo but is coming back and regaining its place among Cairo's signature hotels, this makes booking at this time easier for all. You will find a staff most happy to please and a facility with much to offer.

Room Tip: Request Nile view side above the 7th floor.
