Four of us travelled with EQT a couple of years ago and were really amazed at the quality of service we got. At the time it was hard to find out much about them; we took a leap of faith and chose them because of a couple of reviews we read online. Eileen Lawrenson was a joy to work with - her attention to detail was fantastic and she allowed us to tweak the itinerary as we went along (this was a private tour for a month). As several other people have commented, the email communications with her were great, she was full of suggestions and did an admirable job of putting it all together (we probably drove her nuts with our questions - we organized the whole thing in less than two months before we arrived in the country). We actually had the opportunity to meet her when our paths crossed in Luxor, which was great to put a face to the name and to sit down and chat as friends. The guides were all very knowledgeable, their English was generally impeccable and they went out of their way to make our trip the event it was. We visited Cairo, Luxor, Aswan, Alexandria, the White Desert and Dahab in the Sinai. With the exception of one rather erratic driver in the Sinai (an area renowned for traffic accidents, as we later learned), we felt safe and secure at all times (we were there in January 2011 in the days leading up to the Revolution - our tour actually ended on January 25 that year - we flew out that morning and heard of it as we landed in Europe). Visit this amazing country but make sure you have a guide - there is so much to see and learn and it all comes together with a good guide.
