Stayed at this place for 4 nights. I see a lot of reviews with poor ratings because the reviewers maybe expected a hotel experience. Let me make this clear that this is a HOSTEL and not a full fledged hotel.

Now that we have that out of the way - I shall start with the Cons ( including a real Con ) but then the Pros should make up for this. Also with my review hopefully people who follow can stay away from the real Con as well.

Cons
1. Mosquitoes - Let me stress this is an issue. On all nights I was bitten by mosquitoes. So everyone is advised to get a repellent. And this is despite me not opening the balcony a single day. Intact on one of the days I came back in the evening to find my balcony open presumably during the afternoon room dressing down.
2. Toilet - Very tiny for the private 2 bed room. I was in the twin / double deluxe room number 428. The size is 6*4 feet which has a sink, pot and shower. No place to hang clothes, no hook etc. A downer.
3. There was an old almirah in my room which had a really old blanket which reeked of must and fungus as soon as you open the almirah door. Really disgusting. I kept that door shut through my visit.
4. A minor point but imp nevertheless - I booked from hotel.com and the hotel advertised free airport transfers if we stay more than 2 nights but I found out when there that it just means airport pickup. While I'm okay with that, it's false advertising.

Now the Pros which should make up for the above
Pros
1. Location: that's everything and it is can't in the middle of downtown with shops and food joints. No need for the fleecing taxis.
2. Staff: Ahmed was really nice as was everyone else that we met up during our stay. Although I must mention that on leaving our suitcase was badly damaged by Ahmed as he carried it down the unlit steps. I could see that it was a mistake but really should be more careful. Almost broke it. He gave us good directions and also organized the Pyramids trip for us at a cheaper rate than another travels we were about to book. Ahmed (another one) was the guide. He was very good and helpful but do not visit the Papyrus institute that he takes you to. The prices there are the real Con job as we found prices outside 3 times cheaper despite us bargaining and getting a 50% discount on the advertised prices. Pm me for further info on this if needed. The pyramids tour is a must do though and Ahmed the guide comes well recommended.
3. Price and value - Great value for money including breakfast although breakfast was dull.

The room first time we entered was a bit of a shock as we expected a hotel from the pics but after staying for 4 nights would recommend it to anyone who is on a relative budget and wants a good central location.

So I stayed here for my second trip to Cairo. The pics had me thinking this was a decent establishment. This is more of a hostel then a hotel. The owner asked me personally to do positive review, but then I wouldn't be true to my nic. So here it goes.

Pros: Owner has a decent attitude considering the environment.
Owner did get up at 5am to send us off. and he did not harrass us for a tip like the rest of Cairo definetely will.
Free wifi and a complementary breakfast included in the price
Good location.

Cons: Was bit by musquitoes about 17 times in the hotel room within two Nights.
We had booked a room with a wc/shower, but it was pretty nasty. And there was no running hot water, so we didn't shower after the first attempt.
The hotel is on the 6. floor, and the elevator looks like something out of a horror Movie. We were told it could only take 3 People, the owner claimed this was standard in Egypt however. I can attest to the fact that I have seen this nightmare of an elevator in another "hostel" in Cairo.
Air traffic is very loud and you will be able to hear it well through the night.

In conclusion this hotel is more fitted for young bucks travelling alone, and not families. In all honesty a 1 - 1 1/2 star hotel eventhough it was advertised differently. Hotel management is adviced to invest in maintainence. Families should not stay at anything less then 5 stars in cairo.
