“Egyptian entertainment on a boat”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2011

Although it was a cruise on the Nile River, it felt more like dinner with live entertainment on a small ballroom of a hotel. You couldn't feel the waters underneath which was okay, for me at the very least, because you won't get seasick.

The food was great, the waiters were courteous, restrooms were clean and of course, the entertainers were very entertaining and accommodating. The downsides were that the restroom attendant blocked your way until you gave her a tip. The room was also so small that you had to move your chair or stand up when the guests seated at the next table wanted to move. Other than that, it was a fun ride, the entertainers (band, belly dancer and a guy and a midget who kept on spinning) kept you entertained from the start until the end of the trip, literally. When the entertainers stopped, you look out the window and see the boat has already docked back at the port.

If you're looking for a cruise on the Nile river where you get to see the lights and sounds of the towns around the Nile at night, this probably isn't the ride you should take. Otherwise, if you're looking for dinner with entertainment in a unique place, you should definitely take this ride. Egyptian entertainment and hospitality (save for the restroom attendant) on a boat at its finest.

“Touristy, but still a good fun evening out”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2011

This was our second dinner cruise on the Aquarius, the first time being in 2004.
The boat is moored on the Nile, just behind the Four Seasons at the First Residence Hotel in Giza, a few minutes drive from Downtown.
We decided to go on the early cruise which departed at 18:30 and returned at 20:30. The advantage of going on the early cruise is that you get to see the sunset on the Nile and the surrounding city area slowly light up, and all the brightly lit smaller boats cruising up and down the river.
Getting back to the Aquarius, the décor is very nice and the service of the waiters good.
The food is a buffet, which was quite good and tasty – although very standard – had a selection of main dishes, a large selection of salads, breads, and a small variety of desserts and pastries.
Drinks are not included in the price of the cruise (we paid $ 35 per person which included transport from and to our hotel) and it is here where you are in for quite a shock – we were charged LE 170 (about $ 29) for two small soft drinks and one small bottle of water – I would assume that an alcoholic drink would be far more.
The entertainment comprised of a small band with two singers which were very average, a good belly dancer and a sufi dancer who was very good and full of fun. Incidentally it was the same belly dancer and sufi dancer as on our first cruise in 2004. The belly dancer involved some of the cruise participants, trying to get them to belly dance, this was great fun and provided a good laugh.
There is also a photographer on the boat who takes photos of you with the belly dancer and sufi dancer during their performances – these can then be bought for LE 30 (about $ 5) each at the end of the cruise.
Although this is a very touristy activity it still remains a fun evening out.
