“Trully memorable evening”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2013

We did this via The Pharaohs Nile Cruise Company. A fantastic evening with tasty food & lovely dance entertainment. We were fortunate to have a wedding on board as well, so that really add significantly positively to the mood. A must do in Egpyt......remember you cruising the NILE:)

“Viking Princess Cruise - Fabulous holiday!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2013

We are just back from a week cruising down the Nile from Luxor to the Aswan Dam. We sailed with Viking Cruises and they looked after us very well with a fantastic guide, lovely boat, good food and 10 very good trips included in the price. Clearly Egypt is having a difficult time at the moment but there were no signs of trouble even in Luxor although it is clear that they have few tourists (13% of the numbers two years ago) and are suffering because of this. The advantage is that there are no crowds at the temples and tombs and actually, apart from the relentless efforts to sell you things, it is a very good tijme to visit. We had a fantastic week and saw and did so much (Karnak by day then by night for the Sound and Light show, Valley of Kings & of Queens, various tombs, temples of Hapshetsut, Phillae, Luxor and Abu Simbel). Cruising down the river is just lovely and reliable hot sun is so welcome after our miserable weather!! The temples and tombs are amazing and our visit to a Nubian village was a real highlight. Be warned, take pound coins so that you can buy small items or give tips and don't take your cash in Scottish notes as no-one, not even banks, will accept them. We recommend Viking wholeheartedly and if you have the chance to have Mohammed as your guide you are lucky. His knowledge of Egyptian history is incredible and he did everything he could to give us a fantastic holiday.

“MS Royal Viking,Fantastic cruise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2013

We had a week's cruise from Luxor. The boat is spotless and the standard of accommodation is excellent. The food is of a reasonable quality and the prices of drinks is not too steep. A coke costs £1.50 and a beer costs £2.90. There are towels on the top deck so you don't need to take your own. Staff are all helpful and extremely kind. The trips are brilliant and it is definitely worth doing the Abu Simbel trip. This is a superb holiday and my children (11 and 13) both enjoyed it although at times found the heat tiring. (Umbrellas are good if you think you might want some shade!)

“A Brilliant Week”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2013

A Nile Cruise is a must for any visitor to Egypt.
The food and accommodation are first class and the guides are very knowledgeable and helpful.

But, the highlight of any Nile cruise is visiting the ancient antiquities, mainly in the form of the ancient temples which are just breathtaking and hugely impressive in respect of just how well kept they are.

To visit temples which we were told were built 6,000 years BC was just mind boggling and the carvings and the colours are just spectacular.

Please do a Nile Cruise........I cannot recommend them too highly and I have in fact done 2 myself. Why did we return for a second cruise? Well the first one was just brilliant!

“Cairo and Nile Cruise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2013

What a brilliant company! - Memphis Travel
I first came across Memphis when trying to plan a trip to Cairo and a Nile Cruise.
Despite repeatedly changing the itinerary Marwa from Memphis was eternally patient and always replied to all of my requests very promptly.
I was slightly wary before travelling that everything would work out but I definitely need not have worried. After landing late at night we were met at the airport by Hamada Roshdy who was extremely polite and helpful and escorted us to our hotel - the Mena Garden Hotel - overlooking the pyramids. Our driver ( as were the drivers for all the legs of our journey) was an extremely good and very careful and at no time did I feel nervous in their hands in the chaos of the Cairo traffic.
Hamada was with us throughout our stay in Cairo, making sure that everything ran like clockwork.
We were even given a mobile phone to keep with us throughout the entire stay just in case we needed to contact Memphis. Hamada met us again when we arrived back in Cairo after the cruise. He was excellent.
On the sunday we had a full day of sightseeing ahead , and Memphis had arranged a brilliant tour guide - Mohamed Abdul Salam. He was amazing, we were out for over 10 hours in total and he had knack of giving us just the right amount of information about everything we saw - he put everything over in a wonderful way which enabled us to truly appreciate all the wonders we experienced while giving us a good insight into the Eygptian culture. He was never boring but was extremely knowledgable and also really good company. A real asset to the company.
If you get the chance to request a guide in Cairo do ask for him!
When we arrived in Luxor to commence our cruise on the Sonesta St George we were met by another Memphis tour guide, again called Mohamed, he stayed on the boat with us and escorted us on all of our tours. Once again he was a total credit to the company, guiding us around the constant hawkers we encountered everywhere, and extending our knowledge of Ancient Egypt.
We have now done a crash course in Eygptology - we were amazed that by the end of the trip we were looking at temples and actually understanding a lot of the carvings etc by ourselves!
All in all I can't recommend Memphis tours and their guides enough - they are marvellous!
