“Good on a budget”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

City View was an good hotel if you're on a budget. It was quite small but the rooms were clean. It is right next to Tahrir square which is quite noisy and sleeping wasn't easy. Although it was noisy the location is very good. Staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel got us a tour guide who was very helpful and if you decide to go to this hotel then I would definately recommend asking for him. His name is Mahmoud Badr and his phone number is 00201007584117, it is worth getting him because he knows what he's talking about. The breakfast at the hotel is basic and they didn't serve the food themselves and needs variation.

The hotel is conveniently located across from Tahrir Square, near the center of Cairo, the subway, the Nile and Zamalek. The staff is very attentive, especially Marco, who will surely be of great help for travelers from Spain and Latin America, he speaks Spanish very well. The rooms are clean and breakfast is good.

This small Hotel is directly at the Tahrir Square. Therefore, it’s very close to all the important spots and from the breakfast room you have a great view. The price is just great and the staff is also very nice. I will always stay there again when I am back in Cairo :)

On my first visit to City View Hotel I was pleasantly surprised and found everything, including the staff and the in-house cafe/restaurant to be just wonderful! I will definitely return! Thank-you for a wonderful visit. I hope to return again soon, insha'Allah.

From the outside the hotel doesn't look like much, but don't let that put you off. It's a small hotel in an older building, but it is comfortable and very convenient, being next to the Egyptian museum and close to the Nile. You could pay a lot more to stay in one of the massive international hotels, but if you just want a pleasant place to stay in a perfect Cairo location this hotel will do very nicely. The multilingual staff are friendly and really helpful -- it's like having a vistor's information centre right there in the hotel! There's good wifi service too, something you can't take for granted in Egyptian hotels.

This hotel were horrible it doesn't look like anything as on the pictures it's not clean, it had bugs and such, I checked in at 2 am and left at 10 cause it was just too much!

Although the staff we're brilliant but that's about it.
Recommended if you only wanna stay for a few hours or even 2 days.

Positive
+ Great Staff
+ Great WiFi
+ Good accessability to town and such

Negative
- Cleanlyness
- Privacy as in you could hear the staff walking & talking all the time even at nights.
- They tried to charge more for the night but then realised I noticed it and came to apologize.
- One of the staff used my bin to throw his chewing gum ?..
- I keept my wallet under my pillow just incase and you shouldn't have such fear in a hotel!

Overall I dont recommend it if you are travelling as a couple or family, just for shortstay :)

It was a wonderful place to stay. They treated us like kings in a tale of a thousand and one nights. The customer service is excellent as the staff speak many different languages (French, English, Japanese, Spanish, Arabic, Hebrew), they offer first class attention to every particular detail and they go above and beyond to ensure that their guests enjoy the best experience of comfort.
I have returned at City View Hotel two times and I will always return there as the food was excellent, the rooms are neat and clean, there is WiFi, laundry service, a private elevator, a safe locker and a storage room, there is a feel of being at home and secure.
The place is strategic, it has a wonderful view of Tahrir square and is close to all amenities, it is at the center of Cairo and Egypt.
I recommend you this hotel as the quality and value is the best that I have seen. It feels also secure as we left all our valuable stuff inside the rooms without any worries. I recommend also their restaurant as they have a wonderful chef.
