“Three nights stay at Isis Cairo”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

We stayed at this hotel in late January, 2013 and it's a comfortable place. It's convenient to get food as well as buying some essential stuffs. The room offers great view of the Nile. The Egyptian museum is within the walking distance.

Staffs are attentive and we booked some trips with the hotel. The driver Tharot is very polite, kind and courteous. He even gave us some bananas to eat when we were late for lunch.

We stayed at the new ISIS hotel (number 2) in Cairo and had a great time. The team here were most accommodating and cheerful. We were the first guests to stay in the new rooms and were very happy with the value for the price.
We had never been to Egypt before but with the help of the staff (Mohamed Ali and Medhet) we were able to negotiate the tricky Egyptian "tourist experience" that you will go through when you are here. They are able to organize for you guides and transport to the local attractions.

Room Tip: All are new and the team are improving the facilities all the time.

Large clean rooms, the price is suitable to the service you get. The hotel is not large it is just 2 floors in a 16 story building. On the plus side: u get nice view from your room overlooking a small part of the nile and the centre of cairo, the location is easy to reach and it is a walking distance from tahrir square the centre of cairo.
The negative side was the noise but you get that everywhere in egypt

I stayed one night in the Isis on the way back from a Red Sea dive trip. I chose it (online) primarily because of its location: not just close to Tahrir Square, but also within easy walking distance of the GoBus station on which I arrived back from Hurghada (it also serves a range of other destinations).

It was a great choice. To be clear, this is not a five- or four- or even three-star hotel. It is on the top floor of a fairly grotty-looking building (of which there are many in Cairo!), and the decor and amenities inside are simple and basic. But for the price - USD16 for a large air-conditioned room - it was a snip. The staff are friendly and helpful; for example, they arranged for me a taxi to the airport for considerably less than the rip-off prices most taxis try to charge. The rooms are clean. The wifi is free, reliable and quite quick. And they even serve a decent breakfast!

Highly recommended for short transit stays, and for the budget-minded.

Room Tip: They have even cheaper rooms with only fans. But unless you are really on a tight budget, go for an...

The Isis Hotel is in a great location in downtown Cairo, right next to the Egyptian Museum and not far from Tahrir Square. The staff is extremely friendly and willing to take you on day trips or excursions where you will learn a tremendous amount about the history and people of Egypt.
As a single female traveler, I felt safe and at home.

I have been staying here for four nights before the start of my tour. Due to the previous reviews I knew to expect the dingy entrence way and dodgy life - yeap both still apply here. The room is large, very clean and the bathroom ensuite is basic but clean. The water pressure is something to be desired and you needed to run around to get wet but expected that from previous reviews.

The staff are very professional and friendly, Mohammid can be very hard sell on the extra trips that he is trying to push on you, espically at 5am in the morning when you first arrive. Did book three trips with him and ended up canciling one and taking another. I had the same driver over all trips and he was very nice but his English was not 100% and I did end up sitting waiting for him to come get me outside a mosque for an hour. He was very appoligetic and upset, could not get angry with him and I was not hasseled by touts so was relaxed. I spent the time reading about Islam and trying to understand it - nah, didn't answer the questions I was after, still looking.

In general, if you are looking for some where cheap, downtown and clean I would recomend Isis, I am coming back here for two nights after my tour. It is also very central to good street food places and they will go and get it for you, the Egyptian Museum is just up the road and they pick you up and drop you off at the airport. I would recomend this hotel to all budget travellers and as a solo female I felt safe and was given advice on shopping touts etc.

Room Tip: I had the back corner single room over a mosque, who start chanting at 0520 every morning and again...
