“Great location and good for English speaking tourists”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

I stayed solo in this great hotel. The location is fantastic and as first time traveller to Korea with no language of the country I feel satisfied. Nearly all the staff speaks English, and the conciere at the ground floor are very helpful for tourists. The hotel is in Myedong which is the heart of seoul, where all shops , resturants, transportations are within reach. The 19th floor is the lobby where the checkin and also the breakfast lounge and the gym and hotbath all in that floor.
The rooms are clean and very convineint and housekeeping are excellent.

Room Tip: Choose a view overlooking Lotte dept store, beautiful.

I have stayed in various Ibis hotels and by far Ibis Myeongdong is the best. The staff are extremely helpful. The hotel location is also perfect ! Giving access to loads of food, shopping, etc. Not to miss ...Nantha Theatre !! About 5 minutes walk from the hotel.

The location of this hotel is really convenient. The airport bus drops you directly outside the hotel and myeong-dong, an area crammed full of boutiques, eateries, cosmetics store and more cosmetics store is just round the corner. If duty free shopping is your thing, the huge lotte department store across the road will be more than sufficient to satisfy your shopping needs. The nearest undergound train station is also mere minutes walk away. Room wise this is your average business hotel, on the small side, but it was clean and served our needs well enough. Elevators are on the slow side, and there are only 2 elevators serving the entire buidling, so at times it can be quite a wait. If you're into massages, there is a rather cheap massage joint at the basement of the hotel, although it gets pretty crowded at night. We also appreciated the complimentary wifi in the room, and the swift service at reception on check-in and check-out.

Third stay here. I like it because they have everything you need, and details are taken care of. Even little things like how to make a room to room call (so many hotels don't clearly explain this) are explained clearly so you don't need to always be calling the front desk, that's helpful when you're straight off a long haul flight. There's free wireless in the room, and they also provide a free cellphone in your room, you only pay for calls. The rooms aren't huge but they are well laid out and the beds are large and comfortable. The staff are friendly and willing to help. The spa is very relaxing, the bar has a nice view and the restaurant was good value. The aiport bus stops right outside and the subway station is a one minute walk. Myeong-dong is a fun area to stay in too, with plenty of places to eat. I recommend the street with cheap and fun fried chicken joints that have tables out on the street - go out the back of the hotel, turn left and then first right and you're there.

This hotel is a mid range in price and amenities. It serves its purpose adequately with a comfortable bed in clean surroundings. There is no concierge to support traveler information needs on the city and its outlying areas. But, the location is central and safe. It is situated next to high traffic shops and malls. There are an abundance of nearby restaurants and the subway is near the hotel entrance. entrance. The airport express bus stop and pick up is steps away also. If I ever return to Seoul, I would probably stay again.

Room Tip: I suspect all of the rooms are quiet and comfortable and around the same size: on the small side but...

This hotel is marvelously located one corner away from all the shops in Myeongdong and is right across the famous Lotte Malls. I cannot stop raving about the location. Truly just beside all the shopping places, so near in fact, that you can opt to leave your things at their ground floor bell desk and continue on your shopping.

The airport bus stops right in front of the hotel is definitely a plus.

The service is not so great. My friend who booked our rooms got charged twice for our four rooms booked. The front desk personnel had asked for security deposit, but instead swiped the card for the cost of our stay. Thank goodness she had mobile alerts on her account and she promptly demanded that the amount be reversed since we had already pre-paid for our stay months in advance.

Make sure to pay for your "security deposit" in CASH and not with credit card as you may be charged twice as well.

Also, expect to claim extra pillows and other things from the front desk at the 19th floor. The will not send you your things via housekeeping.

With a little precaution and alertness, your stay can be a fabulous one in beautiful Seoul.

Room Tip: Insist on what you think is correct. Be sure to check on your receipts to avoid double payments.

The carpet should be changed in the rooms but ... all and all it is clean.
Bedding is comfy and clean.
Close to restaurant, 20 min walk to Seoul Station (3400 won ... less then US$3)
TV: English, French, Dutch, Japanese, Korean, Arab, ... good if it is raining ...)
Walking distance to Metro station (150 meters)
Shopping, museum, Canadian Embassy, palaces, etc ... walks

Prices have increase every year in the past 6 years.
Ask your Embassy they may have a deal with them.
