“Enjoyable Stay, definitely recommending it...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2013

We stayed at Hotel Sunbee last Dec 26 to 29, we booked two rooms for a family of 7.

Prior to arriving in Seoul, I reserved an International Taxi from the airport to Hotel Sunbee. This was most convenient as we have two seniors and one child with us. The flat rate for the big taxi is KRW105,000, all seven of us were seated comfortably with enough space to store our luggage. The driver did not have any problem locating the hotel.

ROOM:
Sunbee is a small but cozy hotel. The check-in was fast, the keys were already available as soon as I handed-in the confirmation booking and credit card. They gave us adjacent and non-smoking rooms as requested. The rooms were clean and very spacious, each has a queen-sized and single-sized bed. The floor was heated, even in the bath area so it does make morning bath easier. :-)

STAFF:
The staff were very accommodating, they helped us with reserving the seats for a free shuttle on our ski day trip. And the lady who cleans the room checked on us if we got everything we needed.

I noticed that they also replenish the breakfast supplies when guests come down to the lobby.

LOCATION:
As most reviews here, locating the hotel could be an issue. Since we took a taxi from the airport, we did not have that problem. On our first night, we familiarized ourselves with the area, we even got a map from the Insadong Tourist Center that helped us with getting around on the next days.

Although on our second night, our parents with their grandchildren went back to the hotel ahead of us (as we opted to stay in Myeongdong for some shopping). Since they were not comfortable taking the subway without us, we flagged down a cab. Even if the taxi has a GPS and I left them the address in Korean, still the taxi had trouble finding the hotel.

Even though the above incident happened, I still think it is a good location to stay. It is next to Insadong main street, with lots of choices for food and souvenir shopping. It is also a good walking distance from Gyeongbokgung Palace and Cheonggyecheon Stream.

It is also convenient as there are a few subway stations near the hotel, with Jonggak as the nearest. TIP: The Bearstown ski resort free shuttle passes by at this station (Exit 4 - Bosingak Belfy/bus stop in front of Starbucks) daily at 8:05AM. Then the same shuttle leaves the resort for Seoul at 5:00PM.

Room Tip: This is a small self-service hotel, do not expect a bellboy to help with the bags because there is n...

“Fantastic!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2012

I loved everything about the Sunbee - what a great find on the internet! Other times in Seoul, I have stayed further to the South/West - but this time I was very much in the middle of the action, with restaurants all around - and three enormous bookshops nearby, too. My room was an excellent size, vast bed, decent view from the windows - and very quiet! The bathroom was made up of three separate areas - basin, toilet, bath/shower (with in fact two showers in this latter room.) Breakfast was good - simple but quite adequate, with decent coffee and an English language paper to read. Staff at the front desk were really great, all spoke enough English (a few much more than that) and they tried really hard to assist me when I needed information. Seoul is a really great place to visit - I am surprised so few Aussies go there. The Sunbee is near the wonderful Seoul subway system, and a few minutes easy walk to the bus stop to get you to Incheon or Gimpo Airports. All in all, a top choice! And it is fantastic value.

“Great location and value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

We moved here from another hotel and took a taxi. Our taxi driver had a little trouble but was able to find it. I'm not sure we could have found it on our own. Once we got there, we realized that it's in a great location. It's about 10 minutes from the closest subway and about 5 minutes from the cute shopping area of Insidong. Plenty of restaurants and stores to wander. The hotel room is spacious and the bathroom is huge with a giant jacuzzi bathtub. The beds are hard but ok. The room is very quiet and stayed dark in the morning. The staff was very nice. Overall a great deal.

“Good Location n clean rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012

Located in the middle of Insadong. Plenty to do here good food, shopping, sight seeing all walking distance. If need to ask how to move around, there are tour guides moving around on the streets they are very helpful and can provide even maps as well. We even walk down town lots to see along the way. As for Hotel staff the General Manager was very helpful and was able to solve most of our problems. Breakfast real simple - some toasts, yogurts, milk, coffee n tea that's it. Make sure u come down before 9.30am if not you will miss your breakfast. N for rooms are clean, comfy bed spacious but only the aircon abit noisy. Recommended hotel to stay

“Fantastic location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2012

We stayed at the Hotel Sunbee for 4 nights in October for our first visit to Seoul. We took airport bus 6011 that dropped us off at Anguk Stn. The location is right in the middle of most everything we wanted to do - the palaces, Folk Museum, Bukchon Village, Insadong, and Cheonggyecheon Stream. The hotel is very clean and the room was comfortable. It was handy to have the safe, wifi, and hot/cold water dispenser. The breakfasts were fine. A highlight of the trip was our tour with the excellent USO/Koridoor to the DMZ, which takes you to the Joint Security Area.
