I stayed at the Uljiro from May 18th to May 28th and found it to be clean, comfortable and reasonably priced. As i was travelling solo I just needed a place to relax in between sightseeing so I would not recommend it for families who want a more spacious room and more in the way of facilities provided at their hotel.
A fridge, microwave oven, kettle and cups and dishes were provided although I had been forewarned to bring my own utensils. There is a desk and chair as well as chest of drawers atop which sits a TV. Several stations available-mainly in Korean although I could get CNN and one or two other English stations. Be aware that the showerstall contains the toilet and the sink so these get pretty wet after a shower! My son is teaching in Korea and had told me this was the arrangement he had in his apt. so I felt like a native!
Staff at the desk were friendly and helpful. (Get a map of the downtown area from them.)
The hotel is a 2-minute walk from the Dondaemon Stadium subway station. Korea has a very comprehensive subway network (over 265 stations and growing!) and is very easy to use. All signs are in Korean and English and it is well worth getting a "pass" for a few dollars. (You just add money to it as needed and with it, you avoid having to stand in line for tickets each time.) The subway is very inexpensive and convenient. As well many of them are lined with stores. I got myself and my husband eyeglasses at a store in the Myeongdong Station (exit 7 as you exit the station)-presription lenses and frames for a total of $40. each (total price for 2 came to $80!) You can't beat that!
