“Cosy and homely”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2014

Traveling from Washington, DC, I was pretty worn out by the time I got to Seoul late in the evening. Fortunately, I was able to spend a comfortable, pleasant night at the Roi House - the staff was very warm and welcoming, the room was clean and organized, and the streets were quiet, despite being located in Hongdae. Really enjoyed the complimentary breakfast and coffee as well. I am planning on returning to this house the next time I travel to Seoul, and take more advantage of the awesome location (only 10 minutes away from the main streets!). Highly recommended to anyone.

The location - great
The staff - the best
The room - clean and quiet
Wifi & Breakfast - included

I've traveled a lot and this is the best place I've stayed in. Really felt like home - everything was better than I expected and the staff was the best. I will be coming back and its no coincidence. One of the best kept secrets in Seoul.

Highly recommended guest house. The location is great (near Hongdae), so there are lots of things nearby (coffee shops, restaurants, stores, etc...) and Hongik University subway station is just 5 minutes away. Also there are lots of bus stops to go everywhere.
The cleanliness of the facilities is great, rooms are quite big and with new furnitures. Kitchen is big and you can cook your own meal there and breakfast is included. I even liked the slippers!
But above all things, the staff is the best part of it!! All of them were really kind and helpful.
If you like to travel but you need to feel like your own home, this is your place to be.

My second time staying at Roi Guesthouse and it didn't disappoint me.
It is situated at the quieter side of Hongdae. However, Hongdae main streets are just 10mins walk away.
The room was very clean and has own wifi.
Breakfast is included and kitchen is nice and spacious. U can cook any food at any time.
Staff are friendly and always willing to help. I will definitely come back again.

I and four other friends booked the family room in Roi House last October 2013. The place itself is new and pretty clean, with dormitory style lodging (aka common bathrooms). Check in is at 1pm but if your flight arrives earlier, you can leave your luggage there as early as 9am and just walk around Hongdae for a bit.

Pros:
- clean
- free and fast wifi
- affordable (it's a guest house after all)
- good location (near enough to the bars and shops without being too noisy)
- free breakfast til 10am (just the basics like toast and eggs. Cook it yourself)
- very accommodating hosts (ask them for touristy advice!)

Cons:
- no elevator (so pack light or lug all your bags up the stairs)
- common bathrooms for most rooms
- private bathroom in the family room is TINY (shared shower/toilet area and the sink is so small)

Basically it was a nice stay in Roi House. If you don't mind sharing a bathroom then you're good to go.

Located about 15 mins away from the subway, this cosy guesthouse offers a no-frills stay for the budget traveller. The manageress is friendly while the night attendant is a nice Vietnamese student who speaks Korean, English and French.

Pros- good location in a street that has a few cosy cafés, bars, convenience store and local restaurants. Towels, hair dryer, shampoo, soap, toothpaste, laundry detergent, mini lockers are provided. Breakfast includes DIY eggs, cereal, bread with jam and butter plus coffee, juice, milk and tea. Nice neat kitchen is at your use. Rooms are clean, floors are heated and the digital lock on doors is handy.

Cons- the walls are paper thin do be prepared to hear every door closing, loud foot steps, toilets flushing and showers being used. As the guesthouse is only 4 storeys high, the sometimes rowdy drunken crowds and roaring motor bikes or cars can make evenings uncomfortable for light sleepers so bring that ear plugs ( in fact, I'm writing this after being woken up by a particularly noisy group from the bar nearby...). Breakfast can prove meager after a few days so buy your own bacon or ham. Don't forget to label as I woke up this morning to some other guests frying up my bacon happily. The towels provided are only face towel size, which apparently is a Korean style of drying down after a shower so bring your own body towel. Laundry here means hanging it out on a clothes line, a challenge if you need your clothes dry fast.

I would still recommend this place for the warm service I received!

I spent 2 weeks at Roi House. I stayed in a dormitory. It is very new and fully equipped with everything you need. The hosts are very nice and helpful. It is very clean and breakfast is good. Even the location is perfect. Close to Hongdae but in a quiet area.
