“Excellent location and courtesy and kindness from the hotel owner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2013 via mobile

Excellent location and extremly clean room. Very close to all major attractions and best value for money. Extremely safe area and within walking distance to palaces and market. Hotel owner was extremely nice and friendly, and treat us like one of their family. They made us nice breakfast and sat down to have breakfast with them. They treat all their guest very nice and friendly. Mrs Baek was very nice and drove us to nearest market. Thank you very much for your hospitality, Mr and Mrs Baek. Would definitely return.

Great location - 10 minutes casual walk to Anguk station, efficient metro in Seoul means you can go anywhere as they are all connected. 15 minutes walk from airport limo bus stop (Anguk). 10 minutes walk to Insadong where there are plenty restaurants, street food, souvenir shops etc. If you plan to go to Nami island, you may book your tickets at the Nami island office in Insadong at least 1 day earlier. Bus departs from the nearby Tapgol park. Convenience store (Mini Stop) just to the back of the hotel and 7-eleven a few steps away. Walking distance to both Changdeokgung and Gyeongbukgung, we even walked all the way to Gwanghwamun and Cheonggyecheon stream!
Clean rooms - Room cleaned everyday and no issues with toiletries. Just bring your own toothbrush and toothpaste. Small issue was that the air-cond remote control went missing from the 3rd day until our last day. Not sure if it was intentionally removed by housekeeping due to the autumn season, so we had to open a bit of the windows at night for the cool air to come in.
Friendly staff - will not hesitate to assist in your queries. We even received a flower basket as a welcome gesture from the CEO Ms. Jung. We were offered breakfast at the basement every morning even when it was not in our room rate, but we politely declined. We even had the chance to put on some traditional Korean costumes free of charge, just take some photos either in your room or at the open area at rooftop.
Excellent value - the hotel prides itself on this and for the price we paid, we really couldnt ask for more. We stayed for 7 nights and never encountered an unpleasant experience. At time of writing, the hotel is ranked #2 among all 380 hotels in Seoul!! Ms. Jung and her staff definitely deserves to be up there for all their hard work. Will not hesitate to return if visiting Seoul again :)

Hotel Icon is just in the right spot to explore the city of Seoul. Many sights can be visited by foot from the hotel and the next subway station is just a few minutes away. Rooms may be small but mine was very clean and quiet at night. You can't ask for more for the price!

But it wasn't just the location or the excellent value for money that made my stay so enjoyable and unforgettable. Luckily, I got to meet the lovely CEO Eun Gyo Jung who invited me to join her and her husband on their visit of a temple high on the mountains - a wonderful place tourists hardly get to. On another day she gave me a private tour and introduced me to the local cuisine. What a superb and warm-hearted service! Thank you once again for the fantastic time at Icon Hotel!

We had a pleasant stay at Hotel Icon!My daughter and myself stayed 10days at the hotel. The room were cleaned daily. The Ceo Miss Jung and her husband Mr Kwae both were great hosts! They were quick to solve issue and provided personal service at an extra mile! The only issue I felt was if there were more street lights along the way into the hotel. It is a bit dark after late hours but on the whole I really do not have anything to complain about the hotel itself!

Hotel Icon was the first stop on our Korean vacation, and we couldn't have asked for more.

The reservation process was prompt and smooth and the hotel provided clear directions from the airport. The airport limousine from Incheon stops at Anguk Station and the hotel is about ten minutes' walk from there. There are several convenience stores nearby.

The USP of Hotel Icon is its management and the personal attention which its CEO and his lovely wife give to all their guests. From pointing out interesting places to making sure we got hold of last-minute KTX tickets to Singyeongju, they were very friendly and helpful. We were also encouraged to try out the traditional Korean costumes that they keep for their guests!

There are several major attractions nearby (Insadong market, Changdeokgung Palace and the Bukchon Hanok Village) and the hotel is conveniently located in terms of the subway as well.

The room we had (on the 8th floor) was compact but had everything we required. There is a vending machine on the 9th floor for beverages, right next to a beautiful terrace garden. The hotel itself is brand new and kept very clean.

We'd return to this hotel again, not only because of its location but also the fact that we were treated as guests and not customers.

Room Tip: Opt for a room on the higher floors - the terrace garden is quiet and peaceful, perfect after a hect...
