“Good 2 star Hotel but with not so good staff.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2011

We arrived early at the hotel and since our check in is at 2pm, we decided to leave our luggages at the lobby and we went out to see the nearby attraction.Thereafter, we went back at the hotel. We asked the front desk staff ( a man who can speak English) if we could check in a little earlier than the 2 pm considering we were very tried from our early morning flight and we didn't have any sleep yet. But our request was denied, maybe because he didn't like to be bothered with his snack. He was so arrogant, he can't even smile to their guests. Oh well, for me, all we asked was a little consideration to allow us to be check in so guests could rest before they could explore the place. That was a very disappointed reaction that we got from the said staff. Another thing, the ladies who are assigned for cleaning, they were very noisy especially in the morning. They are shouting at the corridor of 9F while they were talking with each other. They should be aware that the hotel rooms are not sound proof. Even a small walk or whispering of people passing in the corridor, you can hear it. So what more if people are shouting. They were really noisy. Instead of sleeping a long hours, you will just decide to wake up because of their noise. Maybe the Management should check on this. Hotel itself is good, safe and clean. And it's near plenty tourist attractions like gyeongbokgung palace, hanok village, namsan/Seoul tower, etc. If you are particular in using the subway, you'll not be lost. But you should prepare with long walking because you need to transfer from one line to another. Well, walking is a good exercise, so no problem with us. Just an advice, if u choose to get an hotel between jongno 3 and jongno 5, book an hotel near jongno 3. Because location wise, jongno 3 is more nearer to airport bus.

I need to comment on some of the previous reviews.
I do not know where those people live but in general to those comments I can say that: the hotel is not clean at all, the towels had stains, and the amount of dust on the head rest was almost 1 inch. And there is a bathroom in the room.
Nobody can speak English and if you have any questions they call a translator. Joke! I understand its a2 star “hotel” but in a hotel industry you assume people do speak English.
TV is big with some English channels and some of the local ones are HD, there is a kettle too but there is no storage place in the room so you have to keep all your staff in the suitcase.

I took a Airport Bus 6002 and alight at Dongdaemun Market. There's this direction map to the hotel which I printed in Trip advisor site. Unfortunately,I still lost my way. But if you follow exactly the direction, walk 15minutes, and when you see a minimart call '' Family Mart'' you're on the right track, then turn right into the small lane and continue walking for another 5min, you will reach! The nearest exit if you arrived from the Subway is Exit 13 or 14 from (Subway UNDERGROUND129:Jongno 5-ga). For the hotel service itself, the hotel staff do not understand English, there's a certain degree of communication barrier. Eventually, The hotel staff call the 1330 KTO Travel Infor hotline and ask the translator to talk to us. Room clean-up service is provided daily. Good Location to Family restaurants and 5 min to Gwangjang market,40 min walking distance to Dongdaemun and 20 min to Airport Bus Stop .

Lees Hotel provides a comfortable environment for guests to stay and meet friends. Room is spacious. Though no private bathroom is provided, the cleanliness of the guesthouse is acceptable.
However, the location of the guesthouse is not easy to find and it needs to take around 15 mins to walk to the subway station.

I stayed here wth my mum, older brother and myself in a triple room. Two other friendsm booked double rooms. So, for 3 days as a group we all had very clean sheetsm towels, bathrooms, toilets, sink. Cleanliness is of a high standard here.

Good location for restaurants, good markets around the place too. Families comes here to stay and plenty of single women, so its a safe location and good overall.

Ill return again

Room Tip: all rooms are good

Upon our arrival in the middle of night, we had to get through the small alley to reach the hotel but seriously me and my sis feel very secure because this place near with Police Station and we got lost because we cross the wrong direction and we ask for help from the police officer and neighbors around there and they guide us to the right direction with their basic English. We feel very touch with Korea citizen for their warm and friendly towards foreigner.

*Tips: If you are using subway to come here need to stop at Jongno 5(o) ga and choose exit opposite direction of Kwangjang Market. or else you will be at wrong direction like us.

The receptionist at counter can speak very basic English because we already booking from agoda earlier our check in happen very fast and smooth.

We got 7th floor room. The room quite small but give us cozy feeling and comfort. we love the bathroom is quiet big got bathtub with curtain. The room and bathroom very clean and neat.

In the room we have big LCD TV with 6 channel HD and 60+ other channels if you can understand Korean Language it will be very pleasant to you.

There is no wardrobe that is the minus thing about this place but they provide hangers and hook.

They also provide kettle and hairdryer there is must item for backpacker like us.

Because we came in the winter season the air conditioner can not be used and we don't know how to lower the heater so we just opened the windows to balance the temperature.

Hotel also near with cafes and 24/7 market and also pharmacy so very convenient to us.

They also provide internet services at lobby .

Overall experience we satisfied with the services and the room and definitely will stay here again in the future.

Lees Hotel is strategically located near the Jongno 5-ga station. Once you see the Family Mart in front of you turn right into the lane and walk straight on past many restaurants (about 3 mins). The hotel is on your right. The airport limo will drop you at Jongno 4-ga. It's about 15mins walk to the hotel. The Gwangjang market is directly opposite the subway and makes for a great breakfast place before you start your day. Attractions nearby are Dongdaemun within walking distance and Insadong (just a few subway stops away).
Innostel's rate for Lees was very good thus making it pretty worth it. I would rate it around 2 stars and it's clean and comfortable. The heating does get very hot at night. Free Internet access is useful and the many restaurants nearby are pretty good and competitively priced.

The downside of the hotel are:
- Pretty reserved and unfriendly staff who speak very minimal English and despite the efforts of our language book, they don't appear to want to help much.
- A couple of weird incidences ie. my friend's plastic bag of dirty clothes was removed by the cleaner. After a lot of angst in trying to communicate this to the hotel, they retrieved very smelly clothes from the thrash. Even then some pieces were missing. Do not leave your stuff lying around or it might get thrown away.
- Wild goose chase just to get 1 loo roll. Had to speak to an interpreter over the phone who then proceeded to tell me that I was not to throw the loo roll into the toilet! Never quite made out why. In the end I had to follow the hotel staff around the hotel waiting for him to search for the loo roll for me.
- There is no luggage room so you will have to leave your bags in the foyer at the front of the reception. We left it for 1 night and it was still there when we returned :)
Having said all that, I would stay here again for the price and excellent location. There is a police station nearby so it's really very safe.
