“First time in Seoul”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2012

Booked 2 executive rooms in this hotel. Simple and very clean rooms. Very comfortable beds. Rooms although rather small but it's location is great. Right in the heart of myeondong shopping area. One can really feel the hustle and bustle of Seoul with all the open stalls as you step out of hotel. A stone's throw to Lotte shopping mall and train transport. Was not cheap but then nothing is cheap in Seoul.

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights as Metro hotel rooms are all taken. When I made the reservation online, it actually show that breakfast is provided for 1 pax . But in the confirmation received, it shows no breakfast which is quite weird. One more thing that disappointed me is that they don't have wifi !!!!!! Unacceptable ....

During night time the air conditioner is very warm and told by the hotel staff that we need to open the window.

Was put into this hotel by the airline on a stop over waiting for a connecting flight the next day.

After an hour on the bus arrived and i was expecting something with a little more class.

No real foyer, so no sitting around in the lobby.

I was travelling business class, so i must have been given a bigger room, it was ok, but no english tv channels except cnn.

Dinner was a set menu provide by the airline, and was not at all nice in my opinion.

Breakfast was simular.

Excuse the pun , but the hotel lacked soul, seemed to cater for package tours , air crews and it did not feel personal to me.

I course i could say what the hell it is free, but that is not the point, if i had paid i would have been disappointed.

I was happy to leave and i can say in 30 years of travelling i have never had this feeling before.

Nothing overly wrong with the hotel, the bed was fine and room ok.

Just not for me.

Next time i will insist if they provide a room again that it is my choice if not i will book my own and get what i want from a hotel, even at my expense.

Every one to there own i surpose.

Breaking an Asiana journey to Sydney, I transferred to the Royal Hotel, right bang in the heart of the city, in the midst of street life and locals having a night out along the buzzing Myeong-dong.
Malls and historically important boulevards are minutes away on foot and the Royal is indeed in a great position. I was lucky it seems, reading other reviews, because I got a huge suite with incredible views over the city to the hills beyond.
And it's the only place I've been where one can lay in the bath, or stand in the adjoining shower and look out through the plate glass window for a continuation of the vivid view of Seoul through a plate glass window. Nobody can see in 18 floors up!
It was a beautiful room.
The only odd thing about the short stay was the food. The hotel obviously attempts (and fails) to provide Western meal choices, which were not at all appetising.I think they believe that's what foreign tourists want.
Please note Royalists: We'd much rather eat your local produce and dishes.
A good place to stay. But not cheap with the lowest single room rate around 150 euros. And beware the publicity photos which have airbrushed out adjoining buildings, making it look like it's set in airy greenery.
No way it's shoe-horned into a tight maze of low and high rise and is all the better for that.
Because that way you can taste the life in Seoul.

This hotel is not too bad but like most city hotels, the rooms are small. The only convenience is that it is smacked right in the middle of Myeongdong (although there are also many other hotels in this area). The cons about this hotel, though, is that the airport shuttle is infrequent. To catch a more frequent shuttle to the airport, you need to walk to the other end of the street.

We stayed at the Executive Rooms and the guest services were very kind. They offered us a late check out at a pretty decent rate and offered to store our luggage if necessary.

On return leg of LHR-SYD flight; plane was late in but we still got the free stopover at THIS hotel. Free bus (hotel's own vehicle) to hotel, where we checked in using our Asiana voucher. This was exchanged for a pair of food vouchers- one for dinner, one for breakfast. We got the Exec floor (13) and room was well equipped. Rush for dinner (coffee shop closed at 10 andit was now 9:45). However they stayed open to allow for latercomers from our flight. Food was OK; service pleasant.
Breakfast was a plated meal- even though the voucher allowed for you to pay more to upgrade to the buffet, the hotel did not permit this.
Then a quick walk in the sun around Myoengdong (hotel is well off Euljiro in a backstreet before boarding the bus for Incheon.
Well organised; I'd consider staying here based upon this experience

An overnight stopover was arranged at Seoul Royal hotel by Asiana airlnes on our return from Sydney. We were impressed by the standard of the hotel & the location was excellent - only wish we could have stayed longer. Would stay again if ever we return to Seoul. Transfer time from the airport was approx 1 hour.
