“Simply amazing and outstanding”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2010 via mobile

This is big city luxury at its finest. The best hotel experience ever, from the cleanliness of the room, the incredible way the huge windows and curtains keep out the noise and light when you want to sleep off your jetlag.

Fantastic amenities such as the best dry cleaning service I've experienced (a but expensive but not any more than NY) and the L'Occitane products were a nice touch.

Only area for improvement was room service. Although great food cab be had at any of the hotel's retaurants and adjacent department store, I was tired one night and missed burgers. What showed up was meat I couldn't be sure was beef, on a green bun. Not moldy, but just tinted green. Maybe it had green tea, but it was a little weird. The fries were in the scant side as well.

Overall, an amazing hotel experience and with the dollar to won rate as it is, a great value as well.

I was declined a change of room as well as late check-out, the receptionist told me (quote): You booked the cheap internet rate, what do you expect?

The room was in late 70's early 80's standard with most of the wooden furniture showing krass signs of age. Apparently the hotel was undergoing a renovation and put clients with the exactly same room code (Deluxe Room) in two different classes room wise (new renovated room vs. old one, as well as character wise (see quote above).

I thought that I found a good rate, 20 dollars cheaper at 220 USD vs. the regular 240, but the result was a nightmare.

The Five Star Lotte Seoul is part of the hospitality and duty-free store Lotte chain. The hotel's staff is wonderful, courteous and friendly. Bell staff, housekeeping, executive lounge (27F - New Building) are all the best. Cost is high, but the perfect place to meet Korean business associates, as everyone knows this place by habit and reputation.

I stay at this property every time I am in Seoul on business. It is literally around the corner from my office, which translates to not having to worry about subways or being stuck in traffic when taking a taxi. I refer to this hotel as one that simply 'makes sense'.

The rooms are quite tiny, however the recent refurbishment have made them opulent beyond their size. For such a small bathroom they have managed to create a spacious environment, complete with extra wide sink, full-size bath and over-sized shower. As with most places in Seoul, every mod-con is here for you, with the exception of wireless internet.

The bed takes up most of the room and I am still not sure their version of a king size bed meets international standards, but given I travel to Seoul alone, it doesn't bother me in the least. The entire room (air-con, lighting, privacy signs, hotel information etc.) is all available via a large remote control system which helps take your mind off the fact the room is actually quite small.

The hotel is connected directly to the Lotte department store which is great for picking up some fresh food, eating at the restaurants and of course shopping. The subway also can be reached direct from the hotel without having to venture outside.

Room service is pretty hit and miss. A smoked salmon appetizer comes with a creamy salad dressing drizzled over it, the tomato with mozzarella and prosciutto came with the tiniest piece of prosciutto but the most delicious fresh cheese. The local Korean dishes are stunning and come, as with local restaurants, all the trimmings.

The service is impeccable, especially anything that can be arranged over the phone. The deluxe rooms are definitely worth the additional cost to stay in (which isn't that much more than a standard room) and I would highly recommend upgrading to anyone who needs a convenient place to stay that makes sense. The deluxe room is on par with suite rooms at other international hotel chains.

I stayed three nights at Lotte Hotel in downtonw Seoul and I experienced again the Asian hospitality and luxury together with an excellent service. My room was so spacious and fully equipped (even with the cell phone suitable to work in Korea where they have a different standard) and the Hotel centrally located. The Hotel has a lot of restaurants (I suggest you the Japanese on the top floor) and is part of the Lotte complex including a huge shopping center full of high street brands.

Lotte Seoul (not to be confused with Lotte World, in the business district, or Lotte City, in nearby Mapo) is located in Myeongdong, a great shopping district in Seoul, near City Hall, north of the Han River. Fairly posh, it's a moderately large hotel, with well-appointed rooms. In particular, the dual rainfall showerheads were great, as was the heated toilet seat, in light of the brisk November temperatures. Bed was very comfortable, as were the sofa and desk seating.

Did not eat at the restaurants, only because of the abundance of local fare surrounding the hotel. As the weather was very cold, it was quite convenient to have underground linkage to Lotte's adjacent department stores, Lotte, AvenueL, and Young Lotte World. Venturing back aboveground, the extensive Myeongdong shopping options were within a short walk.

A very nice hotel -- not cheap, but you are getting your money's worth. I'd consider staying there again, if visiting Seoul.
