“The basics”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2014

This middle class hotel is favoured by its excellent location, but the inside is rather dated. Especially the bathrooms are reminescent of the 1970s. Breakfast in the Danube is copious - but visits to the Chinese and Japanese restaurants on the third floor were disappointing. Staff did not speak English, and the quality of the food was not up to scratch. In the Japanese restaurant, the sashimi dish showed abundant tuna which lacked when the plate arrived (and try explaining that to someone who does not speak English). The fried noodles in the Chinese restaurant were cooked noodles in a soup. Unfortunately there are not many real restaurants in the surrounding area (lots of fast food outlets though).

Pros:
1. Good location, just in the center of the downtown, next to the city hall and the walking street with plenty of small traditional restaurants that are very cheap despite it is in the very center of the town;
2. KAL airport shuttle bus stops right in front of the hotel. Check the time as it is not 24 hour.
3. Reasonably priced;
4. Good service at the reception;
5. Men's sauna on 8-th floor is convenient and warm in a cold day;
6. Clean, plenty of towels, nice view, big rooms and the washroom is enormous - half of the size of the room with shower and bathtub;
7. Bathrobes are provided;
8. Slippers are provided, but they did not look clean though.

Cons:
1. The shuttle bus for airport may be full by the time it reaches Koreana hotel after collecting the passengers from other hotels;
2. Limited English skills of the staff in the hotel;
3. Exchange rate is not good, in the palace (!) 10 min walk is much better! Yes, you saw it right - palace where the guards change ceremony happens;
4. Sauna is not free, additional charges;
5. The beds in twin room are not same size: 1 is queen size and 1 is single size and the mattresses are not stable on the beds.

All in all great location, reasonably priced if you get a deal around USD 110 per night, but I would not stay there for long.

Came to stay in this hotel for 2 nights with packaged tour.
The location is great. within walking distance to Geyongbok Palace and less than 5 minutes walk to 2 subway stations. thus even with packaged tour, we managed to "sneak out" at night to explore other places.

however, the hotel do not offer free WiFi! this really leaves a bad impression for me.throughout my tour, out of 4 hotels, only this hotel do not have free WiFi, in room and even in lobby. this should be improved.

another thing to note is that there is no breakfast provided by this hotel, not sure is it only for packaged tour groups though.

This hotel is just a international standard, located at city center in Seoul, friendly staff, comfort room, easy to finding hotel. Quality building and room. The staff were very professional and the Hotel just felt like a grand hotel that's been around awhile.

This is an older property but well maintained and well managed. The staff speaks good English and are very responsive to the needs of their guests. The location is excellent near the financial district and within walking distance of Geyongbok Palace and the American Embassy.

The subway station is nearby and in addition you can buy city tour bus tickets and board the bus right next door. The airport shuttle bus also stops right in front of the hotel every 30 mins with tickets sold at the front desk.

The hotel is home to several restaurants to satisfy many varied tastes. I had dinner at the western style restaurant and found it to be excellent in both food as well as service. There are also several bars and eatery’s within easy walking distance of the front door.

I had the business queen room, very clean and well appointed. The bed was firm as is typical throughout Asia but not rock hard as many hotel beds tend to be in this part of the world.

Breakfast the next morning was a western buffet style with several Korean dishes available as well. Breakfast is not an important meal to Koreans and as a result tends to be bland and not particularly well done. That said, I would rate the breakfast buffet here as above average compared to many I have tried at hotels of equal caliber in Seoul.

All in all a very pleasant stay in all important areas, I would not hesitate to stay again.

Room Tip: The hotel is located in the midst of one of the worlds largest citys, therefore a higher floor will...

This hotel is in a very good location if you are in Soeul for a couple of nights. The airport shuttle bus stop right in front of the hotel which can be rather convenient. The closest metro station is town hall which is about 5 mins walk. This station leads to both green and blue lines, it also helps if you are catching a train to Busan or other cities in Korea as Soeul train station is only 1 stop away on the blue line.

However, if you are staying in Korea longer and/ or doesn't know how to use their metro system then the Koreana hotel can be a bit of a walk before you can get to the main busy area.

There is free wifi in the room which is a plus.
We asked for nonsmoking room but ended up with a room that has very strong smell. We ended up changing to another room. The staffs at reception speak just ok in English. I also personally found that one of the staff was very unpleasant to deal with (Jong Hee Kim). Not very friendly, not willing to give direction when asked.
The Koreana hotel should train their staff better as this is a 4 star hotel.....

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights through a tour package. The staff are courteous and offer responsive service to the guests. The room is newly well-furnished and neat, and has an excellent city view. The nearest subway station will be City Hall, which is just a mere 10 minute walk. The airport limousine bus service is also offered right at the doorstep of the hotel.

This hotel stay will be particularly memorable to me. I happened to fall sick with bad fever on the second night, and it is my girlfriend who warmly took care of me actually made this stay one of the most precious memories to me now.
