Fraser Suites is excellent. It is a great location, handy to some of Seoul's finest destinations. As well as being handy to the tube stations, the building is clearly marked making it very easy to find and navigate. The staff are extremely friendly and their English is incredibly good in a city where often it is a barrier. The rooms are large with all the amenities one would need. They are slightly dated but still clean, comfortable and very functional.
The hotel feels secure with guests requiring access for most parts. Overall the hotel is great. HOWEVER... The restaurant in the basement called Kitchen #272 is appalling! Unfortunately this is not owned by the hotel and it shows. The service is unbelievably poor. I would NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone. The food is Ok when it does arrive, however they didn't manage to get a single order right. They forgot components, forgot to bring drinks even after our 4th reminder ( we enjoyed a beer after the main??) and they constantly tried to push us out by 8.50 so they could close at 9. On the final night we gave them the benefit of the doubt with even worse results! The sign says they close at 9. We arrived at 8.30. They were about to seat us when the waitress moaned. We were moved. Once seated we were told we could only order mains as they were wanting to close by 9. We agreed. We ordered 3 beers and 5 mains with 2 sides of onion rings. They took this order (immediately)only to inform us at 8.50 that they can't do the onion rings or fries as these are not mains. We were shocked but said ok. The plates arrived at 9. They delivered the food with an attitude of 'please eat and get out.' Once again we politely reminded them to please get our beers. Then a waiter walked over and said we can't have the beers as we were ordering them after 9. We explained we had ordered them at 8.30 with the mains but were still waiting. He disagreed. So we ordered water which he initially declined also. After we got a little heated he decided to bring our beers and water. At this point we had almost finished our mains. The garnish on the main plate... A single onion ring? How hard would it have been to make a few more and keep a happy customer?
Kitchen #272 in the basement of the Fraser Suites is a disaster. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Plenty of better, FRIENDLIER, and cheaper choices close by in Meaundong.
