“Reliable 5* chain”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013

4th time to Seoul and had a free trip 3D2N by a business partner. Was put up in InterContinental Seoul COEX.

1. Location - downtown in Gangnam. We took cabs mainly but I noted that there is a subway near the hotel. Near to shopping places, plenty of food and clubs. Taxis are aplenty and costs less than USD15 to most places so is considered very cheap for an urban city like Seoul.

2. Rooms - comfortable and spacious. Decor is similar to other InterContinental. Nothing too surprising. Bed is comfortable, bathroom is also well equipped - separate shower place from bath tub.

3. Hotel - the hotel itself is linked to Duty Free shopping as well as the largest underground shopping, COEX Mall. So in a case of rainy day, you may just want to stay around the area since there is also an aquarium for fish and marine lovers.

4. Transport to airport - there is a regular interval of airport limousine buses running to Incheon and Gimpo for about 15,000 Won. Reliable and comfortable mode of vehicle to the airport.

5. Breakfast selection - the BEST in town. You can have korean, japanese, international selection. I simply love the abalone porridge.

If i am going to Seoul for business I will consider this hotel for its location, breakfast, facilities and reliability as an international chain however there seems to be a slight lack of style and vibrancy - maybe it is located in the downtown core which lacks historical or touristy views (think of Namsam, Insadong, Gwanghwamun).

CYC(2009)
-The hotel that can enjoy in Samsung-dong-
There are some places to visit. For example, there are aquarium, COEX mall, Megabox theater, and Bongeunsa(Buddhist temple), and there are many places to eat. The room, service, and facilities are good. Because the hotel and the COEX mall is connected underground, it is easy to go to COEX mall. When you visit Samsung-dong, we recommend there to stay.

The hotel is very conveniently located in core city (COEX). Proximity to business areas is great , most of the areas are in walking distance range.
Breakfast is great , lots of menu available.
Staff is co-operative, well mannered.
Duty free shopping available at the basement for eleventh hour sovenior shopping after busy meetings.

For dinner , not much of choice available.
Better to check in COEX mall restaurants, lots of choice there.

They checked us in by addressing us by name very politely. The bellhop was waiting by the side to get our room nos, we got our key & within minutes, our luggage arrived. Efficient. The room was spacious, the Wi-Fi was good. Clean toilets & nice smelling towels. They have the pillow menu, the contour pillow is the best choice for me. The Coex mall was just in the basement, huge shopping and with so many restaurants in the mall, there was no opportunity to try the food in the hotel. The subway station is accessible by the basement or on the road, and with the temperature at -6 degrees & below, the indoor shopping was ideal. The staff speaks English, and they were able to help us with almost all our enquiries on directions, giving us different options and helping us to plan our day and the best route to take. Even though we were there for business, we had a great time and pleasant stay in the hotel.

Room Tip: We were on the 17th floor, the view of the city was great.

I checked into this hotel on a points redemption. The location of the hotel is one of the best in Seoul, connected to the COEX mall. The room was spacious and comfortable. Only gripe about the room was that the bathroom was a bit dated and the bed a little hard, but that's typical for Asia.

I would not hesitate to give this 4 or 5 points if they had not ridiculously overcharged my credit card. I had food and beverage charged to the room from the evening before my check-out. Upon check-out everything went smoothly. I paid with my Canadian dollar AMEX card. I signed the credit card slip which indicated I was paying in local currency - Korean Won. Both the invoice and the credit card slip said Korean won. However when I got my CC statement I noticed they had billed in US dollars at a ridiculous exchange rate (about 7% above) the actual Korean Won to US dollar rate. So not only did I pay their fraudulent/secretive forex rate, I also had to pay the AMEX fee to convert US dollars to Canadian Dollars. All in all I paid almost 10 percent above what my bill should have been. I had to a successful chargeback with AMEX for this dishonest practice. I can only assume they do this to anyone who looks American. If they actually want to offer dual currency billing they should offer the choice to the consumer (it is almost always not a good deal) and they should offer to bill in the currency of the customer's credit card. What a sour episode and will certainly make me return to the Hilton properties in Seoul which have never once tried this stunt. If you must stay here, pay cash.

Very close to Gangnam area. Quite centrally located in Seoul. The hotel has a great breakfast spread and the area is suitable for big breakfast meetings too. Close to a subway which is just around the corner. The rooms were good size and the service was excellent! The staff are very polite and take good care of you. Food was great! They even have a bar area on the top most floor, so you can probably take an after party upstairs :) Will stay there again!

Room Tip: Great Business Hotel!

Last week, arrived Seoul close to midnight and had to walk from COEX bus stop to Intercontinenal Grand Parnas in a 8 °F weather. Made the wrong turn and ended up in Intercontinenal COEX. We were too frozen to walk anymore, the receptionist checked my reservation and got me a cab to Grand Parnas complimentary of the hotel. They went the extra mile. I'd definitely stay at ICH in Seoul again.
