“Very comfortable, well located”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2012

Very nice hotel, close to subway. Staff are friendly, though they understand little English. The rooms are well appointed, though quite small if you have 3 in the room. One complaint: the heating was set to an uncomfortable level, to the point that we opened the window to let in some freezing air in to cool it a bit.

Great hospitality. The hotel provide free simple breakfast and free variety of drinks as well both in your room and hotel lobby. There is also laundry service on the 5th floor provided by the hotel KRW2,000 for wash and another KRW2,000 for dryer with free detergent. The staff in the hotel overall very friendly and charming. They can speak mandarin and simple English. This hotel is very conveniently located just 2 min walk from Jongno 3(sam)-ga Station which connect to Line 1,3 & 5. Once come out from Exit 14 from the station, turn right at Shinhan Bank which you will see it right after you come out from the Station. Walk straight for another 10 steps along the shop same row with Shinhan Bank and you will see Seoul Cinema on your right side. Walk another 10 steps and you will see GS Hotel Jongno sign board on your right. Turn right into the very small alley and walk another further 5 steps you will reach the hotel. Metro operation hours 05:30-24:00. If you are catching an early flight to Incheon Airport from the hotel, I would recommend taking the Airport Shuttle Bus 6002 which is also 2 min walk from the Jongno 3(sam)-ga Station. Airport Shuttle Bus 6002 operation hours 04:30-21:00 from Jongno to Incheon Airport. Incheon Airport to Jongno operation hours is 05:30-23:30. Duration 1hrs 10min and the intervals of bus come every 15min. Once come out from Exit 14 of the Station, turn left to cross the road. The bus stop is on your left after crossing the road right in front of Mcdonalds. The bus stop further down after Mcdonalds is for local bus.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: Insadong and Changdeokgung Palace (UNESCO) is only one train stop away from Jongno 3(sam)-ga Station. Take Line 3 and disembark from Angguk Station. Exit 6 for Insadong and Exit 3 for Changdeokgung Palace. Changdeokgung Palace you will need to walk straight up for 5 min once come out from Exit 3. I would also highly recommend the Everland Themepark where you can take the 1 hour journey bus 5002 from Exit 6/7 of Gangnam Station. Once come out from the Gangnam Station, you will see the bus stop right in front of Dunkin Donuts. The bus stop is in the middle of the road. Intervals of bus come every 30 min and cost KRW 2,100.

The hotel is only about 8 mins walk from the subway, even in the snow, so it's pretty convenient. Although it's in an small alley, it's well lit and its safe. For first timer, do look out for a small white sign along the street, it will help you find it. A 7-11 is 4mins say and some roadside stalls and cafe nearly, it's pretty good. Located near many sightseeing and shopping area too.

Location of the hotel is in an alley, but with the instruction of previous reviewers guide we were able to locate the hotel with ease.Taxi from airport cost 65000won. Airport bus No. 6002 cost 10000won stop at jongo 3ga station. Airport express train(Arex) go straight to Seoul station cost 8000 won, you still need to exit the terminal and use subway to be transfer to jongno 3ga station. We uses the cheapest mode of transportation, airport commuter train with 10 stops before reaching Seoul station, exit the terminal and walk for about 500 meters and enter the Seoul station subway (line 1) and after 3 stations you will reach jongno 3ga station. Total cost 3950won.(Warning : Seoul station is too many people. It's pushing and shouting, no way you can be seated and very hard to enter the train door if you are carrying a luggage.) . On our return we choose not to be in the Seoul station anymore. We use (line 5) from jongno 3ga station with 21 stops go straight to Gimpo airport and from there transfer to Incheon Int'l airport cost 4450won. It 's less people and we were seated all the way. Just make sure you have allocated about 2 hours of traveling time. A very good choice. So from the airport it is better to use the commuter train after 5 stops you reach Gimpo airport and transfer to ( line 5) after 21 stops you reach jongno 3ga station. You will surely be seated all the way.

Hotel is in the center of most tourist areas. You can actually walk to some shopping places like dongdeamon, myeongdong, nongdeamon, isadong, and some palaces. Just make sure you have a comfortable shoes and ready to take the subway to return.

Hotel room is quite small, but with it's budget rate, it's nice to have a very clean small room with heated floor, Big lcd TV, computer, ref, comfortable bed and pillows, slippers, 2 bottles of water 3 cans of juices for free, coffee and tea, toiletries in big bottles (not to be bring home), toilet with heated seat and equip with electronic washer and blower and free buffet continental breakfast (banana, cup noodle, bread, jam, butter, coffee, orange juice, milk, biscuit and cereal). Staffs are friendly, helpful and understand a little English. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: They have room that can accommodated upto 6 persons but no online booking. You can only book thru e...

We did a lot of reserach to find a good, convenient and relatively not too expensive as our trip was for 9 days and 8 nights in Seoul. No its not too long and there was much to see and do and we took it easy on the schedule. Hotel GS Jongno at less than $80 (Singapore Dollars) per room per night, with free wifi in room, computer in room, and simple daily breakfast, it was a good bargain even its on the small side (still much bigger than most 3 star Hong Kong hotels). The rooms are kept super clean, the staff are super friendly although their English is not very fluent. You can also save money by taking the Airport Bus 6002 and alight at Jongno 3 ga, the hotel is a 5 mins walk about 3 small lanes down. Nearest subway is the Jongno 3 ga station (exit 14) and there are 3 lines that runs through this station, making it very convenient to go to most places. The hotel may be a little difficult to find on the first time so do google to get the directions right before you arrive.
The famous Cheonggyecheon stream is 5 minutes walk from the hotel, and Gyeongbokgung and Changdeokgung palaces are also within walking distance. This hotel is a great choice to consider for your trip to Seoul.

centrally located in seoul, walking distance to all major atttraction area, if you are first time visiting seoul, you should stay within this area. Airport Bus No; 6002 ( cost 10,000 won) stop at jungno 3-ga station, see the shinna bank at the left corner and right turn, pass the seoul cinema and JUMP martial art centre and pass 7-11 shop and see small restaurant turn right into the alley you will see the GS hotel at your left side ( take you only 5 minute walk ).

This hotel is walking distance to insadong, hwangjang market, dongdaemun, gyeongbokgung palace,, changdeokgung palace, myeongdong shopping district..

It is a small budget hotel, small room but it has everything you need, computer in the room, free wi-fi, free breakfast and also it is a new hotel. taxi is easy to move around if you tire of walking, fair rate , taxi meter rate start form 2,400 won ( white or orange taxi) , black taxi start from 4,500 won. make sure you show a direction to taxi driver with written in korean language . Subway train cost start from 1150 won per person. airport taxi to hotel cost around 65,000 to 70,000 won. Bus is highly recommended if you have mininum luggage.

Great value to stay here.

Absolutely fell in love with the hotel. The location is great, it's only a 2 min walk fom the Jongno 3 ga station, has a 7-11 and street stalls around the corner. The only short fall with this hotel is that it is situated inside a lane way and it took us a little while to find the hotel initially.

The staff are fantastic, they spoke little English but will try to do anything to help you. The rooms are clean and has everything you would need from a hotel. There's a self service laundry which costs only $4 usd per use.

The gs hotel does not have facilities such as gym or pool, but has everything else which I wanted with a hotel room - location, clean and quiet for a good night sleep.
