“adequate standard sort of hotel experience”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2012

for my first 3 nights in Seoul on arrival I wanted somewhere I could find relatively easily in a walk from the metro. The Sutton seemed simple and more or less straight line (if you are facing the right way!). I booked an internal room (no window) on grounds of price - Seoul is not that cheap for an Asian city. Room has mminimal amount of room around the bed but bathroom OK. Noise from kids across the corridor carried however. You can get OK coffee and pastries in the foyer which is OK for simple start to the day. Best thing is its proximity virtually on top of the reclaimed "river" Cheongyecheon - great place for evening stroll in summer. Area around is largely small shops selling electrical etc equipment and not really restaurants around as others claim - go somewhere else for that. Only reasonable value - I stayed in 4 other hotels in Seoul and all better overall value for room than this place.

Room Tip: maybe not an internal room as corridor noise

conviniencely located, just 5 minutes walk from train station.

Small room size, 2 luggage already taken up all the space of the rooms.
I was stayed there in April, maybe it was just opened, there was no air con at all. But staff are helpful assiting us to do room change.

They serve nice sandwiches and coffee in the lobby lounge area!

Small room, but completely comfortable, clean, and quiet. Modern, simple decor, cold a/c--appreciated when Seoul was 37 Celsius! Allowed us to check in at 10am after a red-eye flight. Great value. Walk to tons of great restaurants and shopping, as well as the metro. I'd go back!

Room Tip: Might be worth it to pay for a larger room if you're claustrophobic or have a lot of luggage.

Stayed here for 3 nights, the hotel is clean and comfortable, staff were helpful, the location is really convenient, no complaints at all! Rooms are small but normal by local standards. The area just around the hotel is badly lit but still perfectly safe. Loads of places to eat and drink within easy walking distance. I would recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

Pros
1. Clean rooms and new furniture
2. Convinient location near by subway and tourist atttractions
Cons
1. Horrible customer service. We were not greeted at check in, and not once te staff smiled or said hi
2. Contrasting attitude as they were very friendly and helpful towards japanese tourists. My sister asked if they had a map in eng or korean. The staff said "yeah" and picked up the phone while my sister just stood there for a good 5-10 min
3. Another incident. We found a wallet in front of the hotel which i handed to the hotel manager, who told me that nothing can be done since the guest checked out. I suggested try his best to return it since it was the right thing to do. Dont they have the contact info from the oriinal booking? This will also send a great impression of the hotel and korea. He heaitated. Then asked me for my contact info in case he doesnt find the guest. Well.... What am i going to do with it when im back in canada? Wow
4. I told the manager our whole impression of the hotel. He saved an apology, and i could hear them laughing as i walked away...
5. Rooms are very small, even for small asian girls like us

Overall, if you dont mind a bad customer service, if you dont speak korean (speak japanese or english), if you dont mind soggy carpet, then stay here. Otherwise spend your money else where. I would in future.

We booked triple superior room without breakfast and overall, we are satisfied. Close to subway station, in front of the river, clean, nice hotel, but kinda small room. Insadong and myeongdong is in walking distance. They also provide free shuttle bus to some place around the hotel. Their service are excellent.

Clean with free wifi. Next to river and 2 blocks from subway. Very dark street with no street lights along the way to hotel. Felt unsafe at night even in pairs.

Thank you for staying with sutton hotel seoul. In case of the street lighting problem, we will try to fix as quickly as possible by contacting the district office.
