“A convenient budget choice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2013

I stayed at the IMI hotel for 3 nights when attending a conference at the Seoul Coex.
It is well located and close to 2 metro stations.
The price was very affordable, the room was large and equipped with a large flat screen tv, many electronic gadgets, and a jacuzzi bath.
The breakfast is included but rudimentary (toasted white bread with jam).
The only problem during my stay was the noise from the construction work near by.
Staff is nice, but their English is very limited.

Though the room had lots of things that normally wouldn't appear in a hotel room, like DVD player, computer, mini sterilizer cabinet, air cleaner, etc, I wouldn't say it a great place to stay unless you are a big fan of those things above. The most dispointing thing was that there was a light that would switched on once you had inserted your room card into the electric controlling system and there was no switch for this light. So at night, if I wanted to sleep in a total darkness, I had to put out the room card. It was inconvenient if I wanted to get up during midnight. In addition, the light switches were not near the bed. I had to go to the doors to switch off the lights and walked to my bed in total darkness.
The bed was small and the blanket was a little bit hard. And the window, though there was one, could see nothing. A tall building blocked the view.
But the breakfast was good. Two breads with strawberry jam.

It was a holiday in China and all the hotels in Seoul are taken up, esp the 4-5 stars. I have no choice but to book a budget one and my associates in Seoul got me this hotel without knowing anything about this place.

For around USD80 its very cheap for a city like this. What you get is:
-Clean room (except for the bed sheets which looks rather old, the keyboard for the in room PC desperately needs a clean)
-All drinks (about 5 types of canned drinks) and usual coffee are free
-You get a PC (But those with kids watch out, as there are restricted material in there due to previous 'naughty' guest :P )
-You get all the stuff you need ie Shampoo ,soap, comb etc. Again some stuff that kids might get mistaken as "Ring shaped chewing gum"
-You don't get WiFi but I managed to plug out the CAT-5 cable from the PC and connect it to my laptop (as seen in photo)
-You get a small window and depend on which room, the one I got faced another wall of a building; not too nice
-Aircon, a big 42 or 50" TV with a DVD 5.1 surround system where you can borrow DVD from the reception. There's like 80 over movies titles. It's all free.
-Breakfast served in room, I never try but was told its toast+jam so rather simple.

Toilet and Cleanliness: I say not too bad esp for the price. You can see black mark on the edge of the showers but I seen it too in 4 stars hotel. The shower got fast hot water and good volume of water showering out. The floor is clean that you feel OK to walk around barefoot.

Noise: Somehow, the room next to me gets quite noisy as the sound comes through quite obvious when they walk past/close open doors.

Conclusion: If u are on a budget and USD80 is your budget, this hotel looks like a good choice. I saw there's like 5 other similar budget hotel nearby, you may want to take a look at those. I would not advice families with kids to stay there, but for tourist travelling as singles or as couple, this will be ideal.

Room Tip: Ask for the room with a window that don't face the wall. However, that room that faces the wall...

I am impressed by this hotel. Paid less than KRW90,000/night for a double room and we stayed there for 4days. It is located about 5mins walk from Exit 1, Yeoksam station of Line 2 of Seoul metro. It’s a little tricky to find the first time as it is situated in the backlane. Walking past a 7-11 store and into the small streets, this area is choked full of boutique love hotels. IMI Hotel is one of them in the same lane. You might miss it the first time because the signboard is quite small and un-eye-catching.

However, IMI Hotel is not really a love hotel. We met tourists who stayed there and unlike those love hotels, they do not have frilly curtains enclosing their carpark and hotel lobby (to prevent outsiders from looking inside). Certain staff speaks English but generally most do not, so give your hotel reservation paper instead of speaking.

The room is rather compact but they manage to put in a separate shower cubicle, toilet cubicle and include a jacuzzi bathtub. The bathroom does not have a door, it’s a walk-in concept. Room was also equipped with surround sound stereo system, a mini fridge (drinks provided daily), and a big screen LCD TV. Computer with high speed internet is available in the room but no wifi connection. The computer has a range of movie library installed and you could watch the latest movies from different countries and they also have free ‘adult movie channel’. A range of Gatsby hairgels/sprays provided. Lotions, bubblebath pack, assorted bathing wash, hairbrushes/comb, condoms, panty liners are replenished daily, but no toothpaste and toothbrush given. Bed is rather comfy but is only queen size for the double standard room. We were bitten badly by mosquitoes on the second night despite the window shut, so the next day we spray insecticide (provided) all over the room.

Since within the vicinity not much food outlet is available, the hotel provided a menu of home delivery with food ranging from western/Japanese/Korean right to your room’s doorstep. Be prepared to pay inflated prices.

Though it is in the lanes of love motels, the backstreets aren’t that sleazy. It’s just quiet after working hours and during evenings, you could see couples walking around trying to find a good hotel for themselves. The area is quite safe since it is in the office district. Family with kids or those that mind seeing couples checking in hotels for a good time might consider twice staying here. To me however, it’s a good deal with such good amenities at a good price. And since my itinerary is to go to Everland, Lotte World and Seoul Grand Park, accomodations around those areas and Gangnam generally too expensive for me, I settled in Yeoksam which provide cheaper accomodations and have a direct metro line to my selected place of attractions.
