Amazing and 'Out of this World' are probably the first adjectives that springs to mind when I've been telling family and friends about our stay at the Classic 500 back in Nov '12. When we booked it there weren't that many reviews, so we were a bit skeptical, but due to its great price point ($210 AUD per night compared to $450AUD for The Hyatt etc), we decided to give it a go, and have not looked back! We stayed for 7 nights in a 'Suite' - when we were shown the room my husband kept looking at me and asked whether i had booked an apartment instead - it was GIGANTIC - with a massive lounge area, fully equipped kitchen, laundry area (with full wash and dry function which we took advantage of - remember to BYO washing powder!) writing area, massive closets at entrance for all the winter jackets...we felt like we could live there for months on end! We had our 2 1/2 toddler with us and she loved roaming the big place rather than cooping up in a little hotel room.

Located at Konkuk University station it was very handy to get to the subway - it was literally downstairs. It was also next to a smaller scaled Lotte department store which was about 50m from the hotel - we found that extremely handy for breakfasts at their amazing foodcourt. Lotte is also great for buying all the Korean sweets at the foodcourt area for souvenirs - and they also deliver back to your hotel for you at no charge - very handy as we want to get exploring ASAP rather than taking shopping back to the hotel!

To get to the main sights though, it's about 8 stops away (about 50-20mins on subway which we didn't mind at all), and i would recommend taking a taxi to go to places like Seoul Tower for lunch - just much quicker rather than navigating through subways, buses and cablecars - great if you have the time but with a toddler in tow we needed to get to places without the hassles.

Just a word of caution about the security panels inside the front door as well as inside the apartment area - they are all in Korean with not one syllable of English on instructions, so if you (or your very curious toddler) decides to pull that 'emergency string labelled in red', the whole apartment will sound out in alarm and flashing lights appear on the security panels - and you will have no idea what to press or do except to call reception immediately so they can send someone to help you with it! Even if you ask them how to turn it off if your toddler decides to activate the emergency alarm by mistake next time, you won't get much response as they don't understand your question. Koreans are such helpful and polite people but comprehension of English is still a bit low - but sign language always gets your message across!

Two double beds pushed together to make a massive King plus plus bed, and our family of 3 slept comfortably every night (family of 4 can definitely sleep comfortably!)

Would we stay here again? In a heartbeat!

Classic 500 is located near Konkuk University Station and it is linked via underground. Next to it is a giant E-Mart and Lotte Departmental Store.

We were granted an early check in way before 1500 Hours the moment our room was ready. The Suite (148 sqm) was really huge with floor to ceiling windows. The entire place was well-lit by natural lighting and very elegantly designed with contemporary interiors. The main feature of the suites as opposed to the 2/3 bedrooms is its island-style kitchen.

The kitchen was very well-equipped with a good oven, induction cooker and even a food waste disposer and in Korea, there are two fridges provided, a kimchi fridge and a normal fridge. The rooms are supposed to be equipped with a smart electronic system which allows you to control room temperatures and light levels but all of them are in Korean. Nonetheless, they also double up as mini-television screens which you could watch while cooking or in the toilet.

The pans provided are no non-stick and they only provide a pot and frying pan although you could request for more (without charge).

The hotel also has an in-house restaurant named la goutte which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. I had the breakfast buffet which has the usual salads, cold cuts, breads and a selection of hot and cold items. It wasn't impressive although one or two items were good such as the takoyaki with cereals and the caprese. The croissants and pain au chocolat were decent too.

The gym is very well-equipped and comes with free gym lessons as well.

I have stayed three nights at this residence hotel during a business trip to Seoul last October. I reserved a suite room, and when I entered the room, I was amazed at how huge my apartment was. It was close to 200 m2, with a large living room, a complete kitchen, lots and lots of storage and closet space, a spacious bedroom and with my own washer and dryer machines. Because it is a residence hotel, the hotel staff service is not extraordinary, and there is no doorman or bellboy to carry your luggage.
However, if you're traveling with kids, I would highly recommend this hotel. Is is only a few meters from the subway station, there are great parks close by and besides the spaciousness, you get to cook or even do your own laundry which is helpful when traveling with the family.
The downside is that you have to pay for the health club and sauna.
I'm not very technological, so at first I was very confused with the high technology everywhere.
I would definitely return here with my family!

We are pleasantly surprised to discover this hidden gem hotel in Seoul.

It offers a large, comfortable and peaceful room with surrounding high-tech electric equipment.
The staff here are willing to serve, advise useful information and provide instant supports to their guests. This is very impressive.

The location is good since there are subway station, cosmetic stores, supermarket like E-mart and Lotte Department Store nearby. However, it takes around 20 mins subway from the hotel to the main shopping center of Seoul such as dongdaemun or Myeongdong, this may not a favorable factor for shopaholic because they need to hand carry their booty for a quite long distance returning the hotel. On the other hand, if you need to have relaxing, quiet and conform environment, I would recommend the Classic 500 as the resort place.

One thing I need to suggest is to improve is the level of cleanness of washroom. I found there is dirty blots on the toilet seat cover. It quite disappoints us because it is not clean enough even this is an automatic flushing device. Hope the improvement is soon to be taken place.
