“Excellent business hotel for short stays in Seoul!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2009

Stayed here for one night on business, had two meetings with customers in the hotel.

I arrived on an overnight flight that got me into ICN at 7am *yaaaawn, stretch* - taking to Airport Express to Gimpo and taking the subway line no. 5 was a breeze, SKW 5000 o/w, took 70mins. The airport bus 6008 stops 2 mins from the hotel entrance, so I got that one the way back for SKW 8000, it took 80mins. Ideal location for people who are not too fussed about being downtown and who prefer a nice hotel in a good area closer to both airports.

Checked in at 9am (!!), which may have been helped by the fact that I am an Elite Gold member. Room was not too small at all for me, decor very modern, functional and cleverly designed. Agree that people with inhibitions might feel a tad uncomfortable with the glass-wall seperating the bathroom from the bedroom, then again if you are that prude you probably would not be sharing a room with somebody else anyway. I did find that it made the whole room look more spacious, which was nice. Shower big and modern, water pressure high, toiletries and towels in abundance. Queen-sized bed very comfy, not too soft, with lots of feather pillows.

Room service was good, food got a bit delayed, but they made up for that by very good food (had Tenderloin Steak and Haagen Dazs ice cream) and not charging me for the internet as a compensation for the slight delay - I still only had to wait about 40 mins for my food to arrive. Internet reasonably priced otherwise and fast.

Staff very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Executive lounge on 15th floor smallish, but tidy and well-enough equipped, plus huge garden terrace.

Very much enjoyed my stay and would definitely come back - paid SKW 190,000 for one night all in.

While it is true this is somewhat far from tourist area's, if you've never been to Seoul, it won't matter much. I found it interesting trying to learn the subways of Seoul, as it can be somewhat hard for a first timer. Hotel staff was extremely nice. If i ever come back to seoul, i'll stay here again, it's just too nice.

There is transparent glass between the bathroom and bedroom, but they have blinds if you want privacy. It actually nice for a solo traveler when it doesn't matter. I was also on the side with the fire station, and it has the better view of Seoul. I had my window open when they dispatched for call, it didn't bother me at all, with the window closed, i don't think you could even hear them.

I don't see how anyone could be disappointed with this hotel, it's less then a month old and it shows.

Pros
Beautiful ambience - airy, light, nicely furnished
Charming and keen as mustard staff
Great breakfast - Western and Korean (if you're nervous about Korean restaurants you can sample many of the specialties at breakfast here, including barbequed beef and kimchi)
Entertainment area nearby (side street to left of Lotte approaching from hotel) - lively, good bars and restaurants and authenticaly Korean
Near subway - Yeoungdeungpo 2 mins; Yeoungdeungpo Market (for airports) 5-8 mins
In new up market mall so good for high end shopping
Very convenient for both airports - nearest geographically for cars, subway line from Gimpo (which has a fast link with ICN) comes through Yeoungdeung Market. 608 airport bus also stops nearby.

Cons
Location - some way from main tourist sites and business areas (and often involving at least one change if taking subway)
(For most people) Designer excess - transparent glass partition between bed area and toilet!!!!
Possibly noisy on road side, which is opposite fire station (didnt bother me but I was there at a holiday period)

Conclusion
Great hotel if the price is right and/or you want a more Korean experience by staying in a less touristed area, but not an ideal sightseeing location
