“Excellent Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2013

I have stayed last summer when it was categorized as 4 but now it's 5.
It is an excellent hotel comparing other 4 category Marriott hotel in the States.
Nice and updated room and great services.
Breakfast was fantastic too.

The hotel is on top of a major shopping centre, which is great for food and shopping when you have some time to kill. However the location is not ideal as a tourist as you have to travel for about 15 minutes on the metro to get to anything interesting. Also I arrived from the airport about 1am and at that time the area is a little undesirable.

The gym facility is first class for a hotel, but pity there is no pool though. The rooms are spacious, particularly the bathroom. My biggest criticism of the room is that the air-conditioning repeatedly starts and stops, which is most annoying when trying to sleep... and the room was stifling without it activated.

I stayed at the Courtyard Times Square for two nights. Check- in was simple and convenient, rooms were very clean and the hotel has great amenities. Times Square shopping Center is below and you can find nearly everything you want there. Transportation is very adequate and subway, bus and airport bus are all easily accessible from this location. I would absolutely stay there again.

I'm starting my second 3 week trip to Seoul this fall as an American business traveler. I know there are many options for the long-term traveler, but I am very happy with this one.
The positives are first the staff. Annie, the Front Office Manager, and Sue, the Restaurant Captain specifically are amazing people. Everybody has been wonderful, including the concierge and taxi support staff. The rooms are clean and comfortable and have ample storage for long-term guests. Having the large upscale mall attached is a huge bonus. It's not so much for the shopping for me, but the access to many restaurants. Choices range from a slice of pizza with pepperoni at the food court, to Johnny Rockets, to Baskin Robbins for an ice cream, or about 30 higher-end choices of various ethnicities and types. As an American, it is nice to have many choices. The bar area is great for a gathering, and the in-house MoMo restaurant has great food for all meals.
The negatives are the prices for items beyond the room cost which is comparable. The equivalent of a cheap light beer is 9,000 krw in the bar, breakfast is 30,000 krw, and laundering a single shirt is 11,000 krw. Seems pricey to me.

The only good thing about staying at this hotel is the location. It is in the middle of the city with lot of shopping centeres and restaurants. The connectivity is good from the airport as well as commuting is convienent due to undeground MRT which is 2 mins walk. The hotel itself is in the Times Square mall which is possibly the larget mall in Seoul and has plenty of shops and large format retail outlets as well as Korean fine dining outlets.
The hotel reception cum lobby is small and the rooms itself are pretty small. The bathrooms aren't bigger either and have minimal toileteries. Breakfast buffet is average and the restaurant staff although courteous is fairly laid back and unattentive to the guests. One needed to request the staff to refill the buffet items and it took them quite a while to replenish the food.

The reception staff is not very co-operative and helpful due to their limited understanding and fluency in English language. I would have expected the front line staff to be fairly conversant with English especially because the hotel gets a lot of international visitors.
