4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2012

We travelled to Seoul in early July 2012 and were recommended this hotel by our travel agent. Normally we do our own research and book ourselves but due to the time frame we trusted the agent.
Now we were not expecting anything exciting but a hotel that we can live for a three days and have no troubles or difficulties and that’s what we got.

The Acacia is located about 5 – 10 mins walk to a large Dongdaemon area which house 3 – 4 large shopping centres and a very long street market that you can buy anything from phone covers, trainers and bags.
The train station is just a stones throw away from the hotel but the train system in Korea is anything but simple I guess it helped a little with English but with no directional pointers it’s does take a while to get your bearing.

The hotel is BASIC with some amenities, we stayed in the premier double which is slightly bigger with one tinted window and a sliding wooden curtain. The bed was ok a bit on the small side but soft after a full’s days shopping with the wife!!
I did like the computer in the room and the large TV, also the remote controls was a nice touch controlling lights and air-con. The room was cleaned daily but it really could do with a revamp the shower door leaked and the floor was scratch a lot but nothing to complain too much. Down side was no tooth brush!!

Would I stay here again? Location yes, was easy to get taxi, close to trains, close to shopping, close to local food shops. The hotel was good if you are a budget traveller or saving money to spend in the vast markets in Seoul.

Room Tip: Prenier double, more space.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2012

I stayed there for 4 nights in Mid May 2012.my friend had stayed there twice and claimed the room is much more spacious than this time. The most charming factor is excellent Dongdaemon. Accessible by airport shuttle 6001( stop in front of Western Co-opt residence, which is adjacent to Hotel Acacia). However, I took the airport commuter line with 6 stops for 53 mins( 5 trains per hour) from airport to Seoul station for arounf 3700 won and toook 10-15 mins taxi for 4700 won to this hotel, much better than direct airport link, non-stop to seoul station from airport 30 mins( 2 trains per hour) for 140000 won similar to airport shuttle and MUCH MUCH cheaper!!!
This hotel is for budget travellers, not much decorated, but clean.I love the 22-23 inch computer, which is set in each room. Besides, the hotel has free WIFI and hence no dispute between my friend and me. Lovely!
There is 2 underground stations nearby with Lines 2 ,4 & 5 accseeible to many attractions. Moreover,Dongdaemon is almost 24 hr place. You can shop all day-- provided you have enough strength & $$.Hence, no need to take taxi during 2-4am after shopping and many 24 hr eatery around. What point to sleep in night time!!

Room Tip: ask for non-smoking room, every day you find cigarettes smell in the bathroom. A bit noisy as hotel...

We stayed at the hotel in Jan 2012. The hotel is very close to Dongdaemon, there's an underground passage that leads to Dongdaemon and subway station, it was convenient since when went in winter and it was very cold outside.

The room is decent size, every room has a computer and there's free wifi. However there was a problem with our heater/air conditioner the room got really hot we have to open the window.

There's not much variety for breakfast, but the hotel itself is not too bad.

A spin off my ski trip in Dec 2011,
stopover at Seoul for 2 nights, prior no knowledge of Seoul,

Location , adverstised as Dongdaemum area , indeed, not exactly,
there is underground shopping street in front of hotel to connect to those fashion malls in Dongdaemum. Winter in Seoul is cold with strong windchill, recommend to go for this underground route to subway station day&night, it takes about 15 mins to the nearest station, which is only a few station apart from Myeongdong.
I would take it as a plus, a little bit away from the crowd, it's purely personal preference.

Room, it's small , but it's already bigger than typical those capital city business travel type hotel room, i like the control panel for the in room lights and temp, also the gigantic TV panel and suprisingly a DESKTOP PC available for you, i think this equippment is important than the in-room free WiFi, one draw back, the window is too small.

Restaurant, i did not try any, no comment.

Transportation, at the hotel corner, Airport limo bus - route 6001 is infront of Co-op, this i would consider a plus, since dragging your suitcase in cold is not a fun experience.

Overall, it's a value for money deal.

Yes, apparently they advertise as a 4-star hotel, according to what scale I have no idea.
Not as advertised, especially if you get a standard room. Small room with a small window painted over white.
The bathroom is not separated from the bedroom, so you can (with some stretch) sit on the bed as you brush your teeth at the sink.
If you are a couple/family it might not be a big deal, but since I went with a friend/colleague I really disliked that unless I wanted to step out naked, I had to get dry&dressed right in the bathtub after a shower. I didn't like the idea of putting on their bathrobe - poor quality, worn out with holes. Otherwise the toilet/bath visibly newish - renovated, up to standard.
Furniture old, minibar empty. If you want to charge your cameras/phone, TV bench has to be pulled away from the wall, revealing not exactly safely installed set of sockets.
Only buffet breakfast available, rather basic selection, not included in price.
Only convenient location and available internet were appreciated.
We were upgraded to a much better room (I'd say 2.5 star worthy) but only after the call intervention from our agent. Ask to view several rooms if upon arrival you are not happy with what you see.

Room Tip: Book the best room you can, upon arrival negotiate to upgrade.

It takes 10 mins walking to metro station, either Dongdamun or Uijiro Station.

It is more expensive than other hotels nearby, eg Western Co-op.

The room has only 1 tiny window, with no curtain...

The feeling is so bad even my room has a good view (13/F).
