“Clean, well located, nothing fancy but good for the price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2012

The rooms are simple but clean and with some kitchen facilities in case you wanna cook something easy. The toilet is rather small but is also clean and the y have a small wardrobe in the room too. It is nothing fancy but it is good for the price and it is quite near the subway in a nice neighbourhood with plenty of shops and restaurants but hidden in a back alley so ther is no noise at night. Very convenient if you come from the airport, as the airport bus stops very close to the guesthouse.

Locatipn, location, location. Goldenpond Guesthouse is close to the metro and numerous buses. Best of all are the countless coffee shops and stores nearby on the buzzing streets. Rooms are small but adequate. Clean sheets. Staff friendly and accommodating. You can't go wrong here.

Been there twice... 1st time (3 days, family room ensuite) in Summer of 2010.. 2nd time (9 days, twin ensuite) in Summer of 2011...

1. 5min walk after alighting from the Airport Limo.

** Finding the place might be a bit tricky the first time, but you will find it if you follow the directions on the map on its website.

2. Less then 5 min walk to Hyehwa Station

3. Many good and cheap food ard the area but not as tourist friendly as Myeongdong, basic korean knowledge is good.

4. Lady boss is awesome... although she's not always around ...

5. The part-time staff I met during my stay speaks basic english...

6. Just a simple and clean room... still has space to walk around after opening 2 luggages...

7. Has washing machine for free use and Dryer for 1000won per use...

Its a no fuss guesthouse well worth its money... Tucked in a back alley but safe...

heading back there for winter 2012... cant wait... will review again when i'm back...

Really bad switch and bait, a couple of days before my trip someone sent me an email to tell me the guesthouse was full, considering I made the reservation 2 months in advance and they had the room then and asked to confirm two weeks before arrival which I did, but not to worry because I was going to be sent to a "close" location with the "same" quality. At the end, the location was several blocks away from the original guesthouse/subway station and the quality was far from basic. We killed cockroaches every day on our 3 night stay. I definitely would not return.

Room Tip: Don't accept the "close" location, ask to stay in the actual golden pond guesthouse.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 23, 2012

My mom and I stayed here in April 2012. We stayed in the annex building, in one of the double rooms. We loved how easy it was to get to the guesthouse: quick walk from the limousine bus from the airport, and only a short walk to the Hyehwa station on the 4 line. The room itself is spartan, and we were initially confused on how the hot water situation worked for the shared bathrooms, but those were very minor inconveniences that the staff kindly explained for us. It's nice having the shared refrigerator, washing machine & dryer, and hot water dispenser (for those late night ramen cravings!).

We stayed several days in a twin room with ensuite, The location was great: a few minutes walk from Gyehwa Metro; airport bus stops right in front; 15 minutes walk to main palace .A happening student area with many bars and eateries. 24-hour Family Mart on the corner.
