“Very nice hostel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2013

We spend 3 weeks at BHM Hostel and we really feel like at home. Bahman the owner is very helpfull, he can give you advises for place to visit or where to go to have a drink or a good georgian meal. Even when I was sick he explains where to go and how to go. We had a really nice time here and we were happy to find a home away from home after 6 months travelling !
The hostel has 2 dorms room (6 beds) and one private room so it is not busy and noisy like in bigger hostel.

By which I mean, the room was freezing and I got electrocuted by the plug socket....
We stayed for a week in the private twin room, but later understood that it was not actually a "private" room, as the walls are about as thin as wafer and we could hear every conversation next door, as could they hear ours. The room was average, we had 2 beds and a lockable bedside cabinet, lockable door and window. The window cannot be opened, and it is extremely drafty, hence why the hostel has covered it with a cling-film type of plastic, which has holes in it now. There's 2 plug sockets in the room, one doesn't work, the other sparks when you put anything into it, and I happened to get zapped by it causing my hand to get a bad burn on it and my arm to go numb. The hostel had a kitchen, seperate toilet and shower room. I didn't use the kitchen because it looked a bit dirty, and the shower room could have been maintained a bit better too. The mirror had a lot of grime on it, and some weird yellow residue on the side. Toilet room was so-so, there's always a supply of toilet roll in there. The living room was nice, it had maps and a TV with BBC News and music channels on it. WiFi at the hostel is very poor, constantly going off for hours at a time, and when it's on, it's incredibly slow and jittery. The main guys who own the place are pretty cool, very helpful and speak great english, russian and persian. They will help you out with most of your problems or questions in tbilisi, and advised us to stay away from particular night clubs as we are only 2 girls. The other staff member however, a young girl from England, made us feel very unwelcome. The location of the hostel is perfect, next to the metro, clubs, theatre, art gallery, souvenir shops, restaurants -the general city centre. Good things about this hostel are - the 2 male staff, the washing machine, the location. We got a discounted price due to a mistake on booking.com, but even at the cheaper price we paid it had too many negative things to deserve that price. Oh, the hostel guys can also arrange an airport taxi service for you, we had a man from India, he was okay on one trip when it was the 2 of us, but after I dropped my friend off and travelled back to the hostel alone with him, he turned very aggressive and demanded more than the price agreed beforehand, so I'd stay away from him. (This review is written by somebody who has stayed in some pretty dire places as a solo traveller, not somebody who frequently visits 5 star venues.)

Room Tip: Choose a shared room - because if you get electrocuted, there's more witnesses for the law suit...

So stumbled accross this wee hostel after leaving an awful one - review to follow. Located directly accross the street from the Mariott, only has 3 rooms, 2 6-bed dorms and a private double. WiFi works well and you may use staff laptop if you do not have your own laptop/tablet. It is a little rough around the edges but in a way that gives it character. The staff are fantastic for advice and suggestions for your onward travel. Thought a great tip from the hostel was take a shared taxi from Avlabari Metro station to/towards Yerevan - thanks Bahmam

BHM is a very nice hostel on the main street of Tbilisi! The location of the hostel is perfect and the owner of the place Bahman is very helpful and super nice. He gave us all kind of information about the places to see and to go in Georgia. We got to the hostel very early around 6 am,but Bahman offered us to get some rest in the dorm before our room was available. We spent some great time staying in BHM hostel!

4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2012

We spent a couple of days in BHM Hostel during september 2012 and really enjoyed our staying there. The hostel is well situated, in a quiet backyard on Rustaveli avenue (the main street in Tbilissi). The nearest subway station is 5 minutes walking, which is very handy to get to the different marshrutka stations. The staff is also very welcoming and helpful. They give you useful tips if asked (restaurants, bars, buses, marshrutkas) and may even arrange you trips (taxis) to places you may like to visit.
