“Going to Tbilisi? Choose Formula1!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2014

Not knowing anything about Georgia or Tbilisi, we chose Formula1 as a place to start our 2 week holidays in this beautiful country full of adventure, hospitable people and excellent cuisine - and we are very happy that we did. Tengo and his family offered us the best possible welcome, help and priceless travel tips around the whole country. It was also very convenient that we could rent a car on site.

The guesthouse is located in old Tbilisi near to many interesting places to visit. The room and breakfast was nice, the hosts speak English and German and they also help wherever they can.

Without a doubt we will be staying in Formula1 in the future as well. Big thanks to Tengo and his family!

We have not gone to Georgia yet and the review is about the service we have experienced so far: it is fast, professional, and very friendly. We made inquiries and reservations on-line and they were responding within just a few hours. Considering the time difference, we are very impressed. Cannot wait to meet them in person in September.

Guest House Formula 1 combines the informality and spontaneity of a home stay with the professionalism and privacy of a hotel. Tengo, the host is honest and trustworthy, with a good grasp of English, German and Russian . He can arrange trips all round Georgia if you want them (and he is a much more careful driver than the average lunatic in a taxi), but doesn't remind you every 5 minutes. He's happy to give you advice on how to explore independently. His wife Eka is hardworking and friendly, and each day will provide you with a different breakfast that will keep you going until well past lunchtime. The rooms are fine, the area is brilliant. The loudest noise in the evening is children playing in the street. However, you can get down to Rustaveli in 5 minutes, passing a selection of local shops and bars on the way - no tourist trash, just an ordinary Georgian neighbourhood. The walk back is uphill, but easy unless you have mobility difficulties - we're in our mid 60s and found it very mamnageable.

Our stay at Guest House Formula 1 was everything we could have asked for. The guest house is run by Tengo, Eka and their extended family, and staying with them is a glimpse into real Georgian life. Forget staying in an impersonal hotel - aren't you coming to Georgia to meet locals and see what life is like? The guest house is in the old town, where families live, children play, and you don't feel like you're on the tourist trail. Eka made us beautiful breakfasts with Georgian cheeses, blinis, eggs, and the tastiest organic tomatoes you'll ever eat. Our room was comfortable, and was kept tidy by Eka every day (she even hung up our clothes!) and we were given fresh towels each morning. It was quiet at night, and the curtains kept the room dark, which was crucial for our jet lag! Our only minor complaint (if you could call it that) was that the pillows didn't support our heads well enough, but since we never mentioned it to them, it didn't actually give them the opportunity to give us different ones, which I am sure they would have.

Tengo picked us up from the airport on time, was full of helpful information, directed us to a favourite restaurant with Georgian dancing, and gave us a great tour of Kazbegi and Mtskheta. Our favourite times were just sitting around, talking with him about Georgian culture and life. It is a little walk uphill from the main street, Rustavelli, but it's also very close to the funicular that will take you up to the top of Tbilisi. This atmosphere of the old town is unbeatable, and this family is a real treat to stay with. Great value for money. Highly highly recommended.

Room Tip: We can see why the penthouse is popular - we didn't have this room but would consider paying mor...

We were guests of Mr. Tengo and family at 14-15 of April 2014, stayed within penthouse, and were very satisfied.
Room is clean, well-planned and with all needed equipment. Bath and toilet across the hall, nice view from the balcony, tasty breakfast and very, very nice and helpful owners :)

Room Tip: Penthouse is most recommended option.

We decided to go to this place by recommendation of my cousin & sister who have visited Tbilisi before & we were very happy we did. My family & I stayed in the penthouse for 6 days & the room is big enough for all of us, plus you get spacious balcony to hang out.

Our trip was just very recent & it's winter time in this city, though there is no snow for this year in Tbilisi but not to be disappointed we drove to Bakuriani on our 2nd day & really we've enjoyed it a lot. All tours that we had taken from them is worth the money & time, a must places to visit.

Given a chance to be back in this wonderful city we will be happy to stay again in the Guest House F1.

This place is highly recommended if you want a hands-on & family treatment from the owners. Their hospitality & warm smiles says it all!
