“Only serviced apartment in Tbilisi”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2011

This hotel is fairly new so it is modern and clean. It was wonderful to find a serviced apartment with full kitchen in Tbilisi. I was there for a 3 week business trip and get tired of restaurant food (although the food in Georgia has got to be the best in the world). I requested a no-smoking room and got it. The location in Freedom Square is excellent. I was worried it might be noisy but it is tucked in a courtyard behind other buildings so is very quiet. I was on the 3rd floor and heard no noise at all. The hotel has a business centre service which is totally free. They put a second mattress on the bed immediately at my request when I arrived although I am not sure I needed it. The apartment was very small but then this is Europe after all. There was not enough closet space. Perhaps it would be okay for a man who brings with him 1 suit and 5 shirts. But for a business woman who has to bring an assortment of skirts, jackets, blouses and shoes to match, I could have used a bigger closet and a bureau or something for my underthings and tee-shirts. My main complaints about this hotel is the smoking in the lobby and hallways (this is all over Georgia though) and the reception desk does not have a petty cash to make change if you need it for the bus. There is a gym in a rooftop solarium with glorious views of the city but it is not insulated and was too hot on nice days and too cold on cold days. I had to wear a sweater to work out early in the morning and sunglasses if I went on a sunny day. The internet was not bad - a few intermittant problems - but I have experienced worse

Room Tip: The metro is only a block away. Take the stairs right outside the courtyard to go through the pedest...

Hotel is located in the very centre of the city. There will be now nice view from windows (hotel is located in 2nd line of buildings), but rooms are equipped with kitchen so they can be considered for a longer stay.
Breakfast is not a strength of the hotel. I would rather recommend to eat outside.

I stayed in the Citadines for one night recenlty as part of a trip through Turkey, Georgia, and Azerbaijan. The hotel was excellent; spacous, modern, extremely comfortable, had all the facilities required to cook in a small but more than ample kitchenette, free wifi in the rooms, bath robes in the wardrobes. And on top of that the staff were very helpful. Couldn't praise it enough.

The location is great being on Freedom Square next to a metro. The kitchen was equipped well enough to cook in. The building is new and very clean. The only negative was low water pressure that kept causing the shower to fall to the lower faucet.

Liked: (1) location, (2) room quality, (3) friendly and helpful staff
Disliked: nothing particularly, however: (1) A/C blowing straight to your face (can be turned off); (2) the free wifi is slow and lagging, (3) it is more suitable for business travellers than those looking for a getaway.

Citadines is not immediately reassuring, with a poorly designed entrance that makes you feel you're entering a multistory car park... but it provides clean, neat apartments in a very convenient location next to the Marriott on Freedom Square, the boundary between the old and new parts of town. For what we paid, our 'studio' was very small - no different from a hotel room with a sofa, except for a tiny kitchen area. Which, if you need a tiny kitchen area, is obviously handy. The bed was comfy, the bathroom was fine, there was free, reliable wifi, and the room was cleaned daily. The view from the windows was onto a dilapidated wall and fire escape. The air conditioning didn't work. The most frustrating thing was storage - nothing but a miniature wardrobe, and absolutely nowhere to put suitcases - we were constantly falling over them during our stay. This is a clean, standard, convenient option that did work for us to a certain extent. However, if you're looking for something with soul or atmosphere, or just a luggage rack/spare corner of the room, maybe look elsewhere.

Room Tip: The cheapest studio rooms are really very small

Stayed here for 5 nights and can say that the positive is the location, right off Freedom Square. Rate was USD 130 w/ VAT which found expensive given the room quality, service and amenities and compared to hotel prices in other cities in Eastern Europe found quite unreasonable. This was my third visit to Tbilisi and stayed at the Courtyard Marriott the two previous times and enjoyed it considerably more. All in all would not stay here again as the service, the rooms and the ambience of the apart hotel were mediocre. Would rather try one of the more charming inns or hotels in Old Tbilisi for the same price. Tbilisi is a very charming city and the Georgian people and food are great.
