“"The Lady" - invisible but now omnipresent”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2012

Well it was just a pilgrimage to pay silent hommage to "The Lady". There was not much to see except banners for the democratyic party, photos of her and her late father and a lot of barbed wire along the walls - difficult to know whether it was to keep her in or others out.

“History has been made here”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2012

Don't get too excited, whilst this building has a unique place in Myanmar history you can only see the perimeter wall from the road or a distant view across the lake. The bit that made us smile was that Aunty Soo used her Nobel Peace prize money to build the wall to keep out the police and press. Now that's irony.

“Go on have your photo taken with all the other tourists”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2012

Not much to see, just a wall and gate but most guides stop here for a photo opportunity. In an upmarket part of town with lots of embassies nearby.

“OK”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2012

Just a huge wall where there are now opposition flags flying high. If you are in the area, see it, but don't go out of your way as you won't see much!

“Large Compound - fenced off by a high wall.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2012

Although lots of folks on the tour were excited to go there - I found it a bit of a waste of time. It is a very luxurious compound with a very high wall round it and razor wire. You don't see that much. Must admit "house arrest" in the vast "palace" backing onto a lake is a bit "hollow" to me. Especially as her neighbours are all generals!! Went there to say I'd done it - wouldn't go back.
