“Shops for Many Varieties but with No Air Condition”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2013

I am not keen on shopping but do find the place interesting. There are all kinds of stalls selling jewels, jade, paintings, clothes and handbags, etc. Things are cheap but do need bargains. Stalls do sell 'real' gems and jade but most are with poor quality. If you are not the expert in the field, don't buy it or buy it as it's just some kind of affordable accessory. Do bear in mind, there is no air condition in the market.

“A maze of interesting stuff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2013

It's a large market with a maze of local and interesting stuff (and some fake stuff also). Great to walk around and pick up souveniers.

“Great shopping!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2013

We only had 1.5 hours for this vast market. There were thousands of treasures to be found here. Haggling was tough and most vendors just let you walk away (unlike Vietnam or Thailand), it was very difficult to get the price down. There are some great finds here that can't be found in any other part of SE Asia.

“Lots of interesting finds”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2013

You can find a lot of things in this market, from jewelleries, to apparels, to flip flops, bags, the moisturing/sunscreen used by the locals. However, as compared to the other places where we shopped at, they do charge a higher fee.

“food, lacquerware, paintings,mementos, bargains....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2013

All your holiday needs, longyis, dresses, and mementos can be found in this place. Good to have a local friend around with you or you can do your own gentle haggling. The key is to smile and say please. burmese way to say it is ' shaw bar ohn'. Even gems and other precious stones can be bought here to remind you of your memorable Burma trip.
