“Too much for too little”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2014

This was our first trip to Myanmar and we had heard that prices had changed radically over the last couple of years. This hotel is a perfect example. It was a $25 hotel a year and a half ago. It is now a $84 hotel. Nothing has changed but the price. The place is still very dated. Old dark dirty wood in rooms. Older bathroom fixtures. Very little hot water at best. On the good side the beds were ok and we got a good sleep. I am not sure you can get better for the money, though. This is an expensive country compared to the rest of Southeast Asia.

We checked in early and expected only to be able to drop off our bags but were pleasantly surprised when we said we could checkin if we wanted. The room was very basic and old, but everything worked (including the hot water and slooooow wifi) and was clean. Not really value for money. Location is right next to the mail railway station and about 15 mins walk to the centre of town.

For the region it was a fair price but the rooms were old and needed some up grading. The doors and locks were the real old fashioned type, some people would think that is real neat, but I think it was jsut time to cahgne room doors. The lobby couches smelled of mildew. The showers and tubs had rust stains, mold was on windows. TV didn't work when I checked in but they did fix that. I was very affraid of bugs taht might have been crawling around. The second floor looked like an abandoned Warehouse. No one stayed there but since the elevators were so slow I took stairs and had to pass by that area it was attractive.

Stayed for 2 nights before heading to Bagan by train. The location next to the railway station is perfect for those travelling by train and also within a walking distance from the downtown proper, Shwedagon Paya (~2 km) etc. If you prefer brand new rooms this hotel may not be for you, however, the slightly dated wooden panels are atmospheric and my room was absolutely clean. The wifi worked like a dream.

Stayed in a triple room here on our first and last night in Burma. The hotel is dated and isn't anything to shout about. On our first night, the shower was a little faulty while on our last night, our A/C was leaking water. Nonetheless, the rooms are of a decent size with comfortable beds, and the Wi-Fi was a saving grace.. We were told that we could only log in using one device at any point in time, but discovered a loop hole in the system ;) Breakfast was ok - we were given a breakfast box for our first stay as we had an early flight to catch. On our last day in Burma we got to sit down at Cafe 365 proper, but sad to say, the breakfast choices were rather limited - you get to choose from 3 or 4 breakfast options (no breakfast buffet) - and service was terribly slow though not many guests were around. I guess I would not particularly recommend this hotel unless you are just looking for a simple place to stay and are on a budget.

I just hate to write a negative review, but after our 3 day stay there just this month, I have to do it deference to other travelers. We booked 2 rooms for two couples: in one of the rooms, the air con did not work, and apparently had not worked for sometime. They did provide another room. The bathroom s were not clean; in the tub shower, thed gizmo that allowed water to drain was broken so when you took a shower, the tub filled with water. We like to think that we are experienced travelers and not overly critical. However, if you are a backpacker, and used to very basic facilities, you will be safe here, and I feel so guilty in writing this review as everyone was so nice. Now the outstanding feature of this hotel is that it is right next store to the incredible 365 CAFE, where you can get very reasonable beer and cocktails; all four of our group love Asian food(3 are Asian)and the Asian food here is incredible, especial Burmese and Thai, the menu is extensive and affordable. We only stayed one night here-were joining a tour at the nearby Park Royal, but during our stay here, we ate 3 times at the Cafe 365, no one got sick from the food-lok especially for Asian dishes made with shrimp.

Room Tip: Some reviews ;mentioned that from some rooms you can get a view of the major temple in Myanmar, the...

This apparently is the place to review the 365 cafe. We didn't even realize there was a hotel as the cafe is entered from the street. Good range of food from various parts of the world. We have two Korean soups with kimche and they were very good as was the service. Prices reasonable for tourists but a bit out of the range of locals.

Room Tip: We only saw the 365 cafe!
