“Old hotel with cut-throat price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2012

Stayed here for 6 nights during a business visit. Although the hotel awarded 4 star by the Ministry of Tourism, I feel it is more 3 to 3.5 star. The service is above average, but the age and the interior of the hotel looks old.

Check-in was fast, they do not accept credit card yet. So please bring USD to pay.
I got myself a Superior Room, at the end of the corridor of 4th floor. Thus the wifi signal may not be very strong. Room was old but clean with strong shower, hot and cold water.

Breakfast was average. I believe the daily pastries and cake in the cafe fridge panel are not fresh. I saw their staff remove it at the end of the day and replenish it the next morning.

They do have a gym, which is behind the hotel, adjacent to a small sized swimming pool. Ground floor of the gym is the weights equipment and toilet with steam room ( I didn't try ) while the 2nd floor is the cardio - with a few treadmills, elliptical and cycling machine. Equipment here are not that modern as seen in other developed countries.

Not many nearby eateries or mall around this hotel. Opposite the hotel is My Garden restaurant which serve nice Chinese food, at a above average price. They do not accept credit card also, only Kyats and USD. Hotel is 5 to 7 minutes walking to Shwedagon Pagoda - Western Entrance.

Room Tip: Room facing Pagoda

We stayed at this hotel twice as part of our holiday to Myanmar. The positive on both occasions was of course the friendliness of the staff (as is the case throughout Myanmar), the fantastic breakfast buffet and also the fact that you could readily change your US dollars into Kyat at either of the 2 little exchange outlets in the hotel.
One our first stay, we were given a room on the 3rd floor and it was frankly pretty bad. It was a smoking room, dated and the mattress was terrible. However on our second visit a week later we were given a room on the 5th floor which was non smoking with brand new fittings and mattress and so I would say you should definitely insist on a room on the 5th floor if you visit. Otherwise it is a good hotel, close to the main attractions and the restaurant is fairly good too.

Room Tip: insist on the 5th floor

My first visit to Yangon and staying at the Summit Parkview Hotel was a pleasant experience. The staff both at reception and in the restaurants was very professional and efficient. The room was done nicely and tidy daily. However; the room standard clearly showed signs of lack of maintenance. The room I stayed in had a refrigerator, with no minibar, for the guests’ convenience.
The hotel is situated just ten minutes’ walk away from the Shwedagon Pagoda. Interesting to just sit there and watch people passing by peacefully. I was lucky to be there on the night of the Tazaungdaing festival – a special experience.

The hotels endeavour of decorating in western style Christmas decorations was a bit over the edge to my taste.

Although one of the better hotels around, the hotel is dated and tired. It needs renewal. The bed is pretty creaky. Furniture colours are old.

The lobby is large and suitable for meetings. Conference rooms okay. Location wise it has absolutely nothing to offer. You have to travel out for food, attractions etc. Taxis are cheap though, but time wasting to search for places.

We just spent 2 nights here before starting our tour. The rooms are a good size and breakfast is good too. The staff will also provide a breakfast box if you have an early start (as we did). Nice pool area which we sadly didn't have time to use.

Money changing is also available and rates are same as elsewhere. Staff are efficient and friendly.
We would definitely stay here again.

I've been travelling to Burma for many years, but have never previously stayed at Summit Park View, so my recent experience represents a very pleasant surprise. It is a lovely hotel - well located, and providing excellent services and high level amenities.

Our rooms were clean and well maintained, although not sparkling - the hotel an older establishment. Despite being fully booked, all staff are pleasant and efficient, maintaining their traditional Burmese hospitality whilst coping with the demands of all guests. Views of the Shwedagon Pagoda from some rooms are quite magnificent. I will certainly book at Summit Parkview for my next visit.

Room Tip: Request a Pagoda view room - it may or may not be available.

We stayed here for our last day in Myanmar, and the staff were friendly, the hotel was clean and comfy. We asked for a view of Shwedagon Paya, and got a great one! It's a nice place to stay in Yangon, albeit a bit pricy.

The pool makes for a nice dip and there are fitness facilities that are well kept. Very nice!

Room Tip: Ask for a view from high up of the Shwedagon Paya! It's beautiful all lit up at night!
