“Sule Paya, centre of Yangon, and a useful landmark”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012

Sule Paya is a the dead centre of Yangon, and serves as a useful landmark. Taxi drivers all know where it is. Do visit Semar's crepe stall on the corner of Mahabandoola Street by the Pagoda roundabout. Her coconut and brown sugar crepes cost just 100 kyat, (8 pence) and they are delicious

“Contrast to Shwedagon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2012

While Sule is certainly a sight to see, it is sort of in the shadow of the larger Shwedagon complex. Sule is more quiet and has a more local feel. The crowds are smaller, and it is generally easier to navigate than the larger Pagoda.

“Mystical”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2012

The star shaped interior of this pagoda where a hair of the Buddha is enshrined, is completely gold. When we were there, a monk was chanting and was broadcast throughout, lending a feeling of tranquility and spirituality one rarely gets to experience.

“Seen from everywhere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2012

You cannot miss this monument as it is visible at every turn in the road in Yangon and is situated on a roundabout. It is easily identified by its unusual 6 sided shape and although not as impressive as the Shwedagon Pagoda it is a beautiful stupa and worth a walk round.
