“The best place to stay for business travelers in Yangon”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2013 via mobile

The Hotel has been quick to take advantage of the renewed interest in Myanmar and the resulting renovations have refreshed the public areas and the rooms on renovated floors significantly. The hotel is therefore justifiably busy and must be the top business hotel in Yangon.

I occupied a king bedded room on Level 19 with access to the Traders Club lounge which is temporarily on Level 3. The room itself is refreshing and bright. The bathroom is small but significantly has a modern shower. With access to wifi the room becomes a haven. Especially when the mobile phone network is not accessible to foreign mobile phones!

Breakfast at the Traders Club lounge is acceptable but the lounge itself is a compromise to a proper club lounge and the sooner the real one opens, the better. The staff are indeed very attentive. I had the use of the meeting rooms as part of the rate for the Traders Club room. It's comfortable and very suitable for meetings

I also had breakfast at the coffee house on the ground floor. Obviously with more food on offer and very popular. But if you order poached eggs, be prepared for a long wait.

The Chinese restaurant offers an all you can eat lunch for USD20 per person. I would rate it between average to good. Service though is consistent with the rest of the hotel being friendly and efficient.

I did not use the gym but a colleague did and said it was new large and excellent

The winning points are the refreshed look, the warm service, and the wifi! Currently the best place to stay in Yangon for business travelers

We stayed 3 nights at the Traders Hotel in Yangon and were thoroughly satisfied. The hotel, now almost completely renovated is well appointed and comfortable. The staff are extremely friendly and go out of their way to provide excellent service. The breakfast buffet is spectacular with local and western cuisine. The staff happily explain the less familiar Burmese dishes. The Traders Club, while in a temporary location offers warm and cold canopies, fruit, cheeses and desserts.
The renovations, while almost completed, are not an intrusion.

Staying at so many hotels for work purposes, you tend to be jaded about its facilities and surroundings, so what would normally stand out is the service. Traders Hotel Yangon's service is fantastic, and then some - it's the personal touch that makes it excellent. The hotel's food is fantastic, however when the staff remember that you liked their bar peanuts and so sends up a bowl of it with your meal for free, you suddenly take notice of it. When the maid does your room everyday, and yet notices that you used some of the vanity items more than others and leaves some extra on your table, then you think 'wow, they notice'. When you keep the flowers they leave on your bed at turn-down because you like flowers, so they notice and they place various flowers in vases throughout your room, you feel special. When they leave a bowl of fruit with more of the fruit that you like, you really feel like they care. When you ask concierge for a taxi so you can tour the city by yourself, and he recommends someone he knows to ensure 'you are safe', then you feel cared for. This, for me, is what makes a great hotel and Traders Hotel in Yangon certainly is that.

I recently spent 5 days in Yangon at the Traders Hotel. It was a wonderful and comfortable stay. All the staff were very friendly, efficient and gracious. There were previous reports of odd smells: I experienced none. There was major renovation going on, but the hotel provided a note at check-in with the times of the construction so we could plan our day around it. Due to the construction, the Traders Lounge was in a conference room. The Lounge Staff made a windowless meeting room tucked away on the third floor feel like a top floor lounge. We took advantage of the Traders Club Happy Hour and Thuzar, Wai Lee and Elisabeth were very attentive (we returned every night!). They were so helpful and charming! The hotel had an older-world charm with every modern convenience. The breakfast was to die for; so many choices, such good food and staff ready to help us with assembling dishes. Getting a car at the hotel was simple, always available, clean, trustworthy and very affordable. My wife took advantage of the spa, which was expensive for Yangon but very affordable by Western standards. The experiences was wonderful and she received the best manicure she has had in years. This might not be the fanciest hotel in Yangon, but its location beats The Strand.

If you want to have a western style / familiar hotel during your stay in Myanmar, this is it. The location is great, you can walk most of the city from there and the staff is extremely helpful. We had issues coordinating with friends and flight confirmations and they did all the work for us. Amazing. Breakfast buffet is incredible even for western standards. They just have everything. Rooms are great, we even got a third bed in when we were 3 people travelling. It was a bit noisy when we went as they were upgrading their Traders Floor but it wasnt too much of an inconvenience. Can def recomend staying here and if you book early online rates are not too bad for what you get.

All as expected from this hotel : clean rooms, friendly staff, great location, it is expensive but all of the top hotels are. It does get very full so book early. After walking around the sights all day, it was a sanctuary to return to the hotel. The hotel breakfasts were the best during our trip around Myanmar!

Room Tip: It is a city and the views from the rooms weren't so spectacular - you go to Bagan for the spect...

During a recent trip to Myanmar my husband & I stayed at the Traders Hotel and would highly recommend it - but book early as it is a very busy place! It is perfectly located in the middle of Yangon, is modern, recently refurbished (& this is still ongoing) with inviting dining room & wonderful staff. The Customer Relations girls in the lobby area in particular, dressed in their elegant national costume, are absolutely delightful.

The main dining room is cheerful, the food of a very good international standard, the staff friendly & attentive - not formal. We had a family dinner party here & all our guests loved it - & they are well travelled. If eating in the lobby area for a more informal meal be prepared to sit in a busy area - it is interesting what goes on! The lounge/pub area upstairs serves similar light meals but the service needs improvement.

We had breakfast room service twice - both times it was mixed up but the 2nd time they were extremely apologetic & we were given complimentary wine & fruit - it is a learning curve I think for some of the staff.

The room was a good size, the lighting convenient; we had to change our booking while there and it was no problem. All in all, a lovely hotel & we would go back anytime1
