“Respite in a fantastic location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2013

Enormously comfortable, Traders is the most well located five-star hotel in Rangoon - right downtown, a stone's throw from Bogyoke Market. Rooms are well appointed and very quiet, despite the honking going on outside. As of writing this review, the club lounge has been relocated from the top floor to the 3rd, while the hotel is undergoing renovations.

An oasis in a most ideal location. Able to walk to Scotts Market & a stunning Pagoda. The room and service was of Shangri La standard. Despite the club floor undergoing renovations the hotel managed to deliver a near seamless lounge service on a different floor.

The Spa proved a regular visit. Just $38USD for a 1 hour massage for the two of us

This hotel which is geared for conferences and business guests is also ideally situated for tourists. The rooms are large and very comfortable and despite some refurbishment work being ongoing, are very quiet. The outdoor pool is a little dated, but a welcome relief from the heat of a days sightseeing. The hotel's main restaurant is buffet style, a little expensive but an excellent selection of international cuisine. The bar food is however poor and not good value for money and the service there is very slow. This is one of the few hotels in Myanmar capable of accepting credit cards (not debit cards). If going out to eat, I would recommend the Green Elephant which is within walking distance, just be careful crossing the road at rush hour!

Room Tip: We had a room overlooking the pool and it was very quiet.

We stayed at this hotel for one night on arrival and one night on departure. It was only on our second visit that we appreciated how good the hotel was as we were so exhausted after our long flight on the first stay.
The rooms are spacious and the beds very comfortable. We stayed at 5 other hotels in Burma and Traders has certainly got things right. Everything you might need is in the room and in an accessible place. No placing of kettles on the floor, no lethal steps down to the bathroom etc.
Staff members are charming and helpful. One of us left something in the room on arrival and it was kept for us when we returned. We had breakfast in the hotel and it was superb. A great selection and good service. Waiters are looking out to see if you need anything. We loved the big mugs and excellent coffee as it can get very frustrating in most hotels when they give you tiny cups and don't come round with refills. There is a nice pool if you have time and the hotel is very well situated. There is some refurbishment going on but we were not disturbed by any work.

Room Tip: Ensure you have a refurbished room

The location is excellent--close to Scotts Market and within walking distance of many sights and neighborhoods. It is know to all taxi drivers, so there is no problem when you arrive from the airport. We arrived at night, and the front desk staff was able to take care of all our needs. All staff proved to be friendly, professional and helpful during our entire stay. Breakfast was a full buffet, with some choice that changed daily. There is something for everyone, from eggs to Indian to Asian choices. We are one dinner at the Chinese restaurant and were sad that we did not have more opportunities to eat there. The chef from Hong Kong creates authentic food as good as I have eaten in Hong Kong. The service was elegant and the price very reasonable. Our room was nice, and well serviced. The housekeeping staff quickly and courteously attended to any requests we made. This hotel strives to be one of the best in Yangon and is doing well to be so.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of Shwedagon Paya. It is lit up and is beautiful at night.

The 2nd most expensive hotel in Myanmar (Yangon) The Rooms are decent sized and the once which have been just renovated are actually quite nicely done as per ShangriLa standrads. Expensive by about a US$50-75 per night, it pinches to pay for this facility.
Staff is very courteous and prompt to solve your problems. Very nice housekeeping staff and the toilets are spic and span clean. Turndown service is as good as making up your room again in the evening. Air conditioning and controls are all well done.
They have very good food choise in the Traders Cafe both for Vegetarian and Non vegetarian and not that expensive compared to resturnats outside.
The most amazing is their breakfast selections. Being a vegetarian, i was able to eat to my hearts content was a amazing feat for me as normally i can only get a few things to eat. They have japanese, chinese, indian and european spread which will make you drool in this country. the quality of food is very good. I would suggest everyone to have their breakfast included in their room rate.
The hotel is close to majour shopping markets and Pagodas, temples, malls so quite centrally located. You can hire a taxi or just walk around the hotel . Its safe in Yangon to go around walking. There is a movie hall right opposite to hotel which is quite decent and runs foreign films (in english).
The only thing i felt was not upto the mark was their Club Lounge which has been under renovation since last 6 months and as and when they complete, i think that this will be a good place to hang around.
Business Centre is equipped with most of the things although its a place for only 1 person to do the job at time, but it was empty for most of the time i visited.

Room Tip: Try to get rooms which are away from noise as hotel is still under renovation. Select the newly furn...

Decent choice in good location. On the expensive side . But it caters to buisness people and such. Safe choice near market and provides all the necessities and comforts. No surprises except be careful paying in Kyat since they will give you an outrageous rate of exchange.

Room Tip: At the Chinese restaurant on the second floor we were presented with our dinner bill in US dollars...
